ChromeChrome has no proxy fields of its own: it uses the computer's settings, a launch flag or an extension. Each works with our HTTP port and your login.FirefoxFirefox has its own proxy settings, separate from the computer's. Use them for our HTTP port with a saved login, or an extension when you want SOCKS5 with a login.Microsoft EdgeEdge takes its proxy from the Windows or macOS settings, a launch flag or an add-on. Use our HTTP port: Edge runs on Chromium and cannot log in to a SOCKS5 proxy.SafariSafari has no proxy settings of its own: it uses the proxies of the Mac's network connection. Set the two web proxies there with your login, and Safari picks them up.OperaOpera uses the computer's proxy settings and links to them from its own settings page. Operating systems and phones
WindowsWindows has one manual HTTP proxy setting for your user account. Browsers follow it and ask for your login; many other apps ignore it.macOSmacOS keeps proxy settings for each network service, with a login and password. Safari and many Mac apps use them; Terminal tools and some apps need their own setup.LinuxLinux has no single proxy switch. Terminal programs read environment variables, desktop apps read the GNOME or KDE setting, and some programs read neither.iPhone and iPadiOS and iPadOS take an HTTP proxy with a login for each Wi-Fi network. Safari and many apps use it; mobile data and apps with their own connections do not.AndroidAndroid's Wi-Fi proxy has no login fields, and Chrome is the app that asks for one. For other apps and mobile data, use a proxy app that stores the login.
Apps and tools
ProxifierProxifier sends programs that have no proxy setting of their own through a proxy. Add the gateway once, then decide with rules which programs use it.ProxyCapProxyCap sends the programs you choose through a proxy, and over SOCKS5 it carries their UDP too.
