Telegram proxy setup
Telegram has its own proxy setting, so only Telegram uses the proxy. SOCKS5 with a login works in every Telegram app; calls go through it only on iPhone and iPad.
- Protocols
- SOCKS5 with username and password on every app; HTTP on Telegram Desktop only
- Calls (UDP)
- Through the proxy on iPhone and iPad only (Use for calls). Telegram Desktop and Android place calls without it
- Where the setting is
- Desktop: Settings → Advanced → Connection type. Phones: Settings → Data and Storage → Proxy
- Works with
- Residential and mobile proxies
Before you start
- A current Telegram app: Desktop, Android, iPhone or iPad.
- Your proxy login and password from the Residential or Mobile page of the dashboard.
- A sticky key for Telegram (see below). It keeps its connections open for hours, and a rotating login moves them to new IPs on every reconnect.
- Host
gate.aeonproxy.com- Port (SOCKS5)
7001- Login
- your proxy login, with targeting keys if you need them:
LOGIN-cc-us-sid-abc123 - Password
- your proxy password
Copy the login and password from the Residential or Mobile page of the dashboard; the generator there also writes ready lines. Key syntax: targeting and sessions.
Add the proxy
The quickest way is a proxy link. Put your login and password into it, send it to yourself in Saved Messages and tap it. Telegram shows the server details and a Connect Proxy button (Desktop also has Check Status).
https://t.me/socks?server=gate.aeonproxy.com&port=7001&user=LOGIN-cc-de-sid-tg01-ttl-60&pass=PASSWORDThe link carries your password: do not post it in a chat other people can read. To type it in by hand:
- Desktop: Settings → Advanced → Connection type → Use custom proxy → Add proxy. Choose SOCKS5, enter
gate.aeonproxy.comas the hostname,7001, your login and password, then Save. Desktop also offers HTTP: use port7000for it. - Android: Settings → Data and Storage → Proxy Settings → Add Proxy. Choose SOCKS5, fill in Server, Port, Username and Password, save, and turn on Use Proxy.
- iPhone and iPad: Settings → Data and Storage → Proxy → Add Proxy. Type SOCKS5, fill in Server, Port, Username and Password, then Done.
Check the proxy
The proxy list shows a status for each entry: online or available with a ping on desktop, a ping in ms on phones. To see the IP Telegram gets, open Settings → Privacy and Security → Active sessions (desktop) or Settings → Devices (phones). The entry for this device should show the exit's country; it may take a reconnect to update.
Rotating or sticky
Use a sticky login with the longest time, one key per device:
LOGIN-cc-de-sid-tg01-ttl-60Telegram then keeps one exit for up to 60 minutes. After that the key moves to a new IP in the same country and Telegram reconnects on its own. There is no way to keep one residential or mobile IP for days; country (or city) targeting keeps every new IP in the same place.
Voice and video calls
iPhone and iPad: with a SOCKS5 proxy active, Use for calls appears under the proxy list. Turn it on and calls go through the proxy too. Our SOCKS5 port relays UDP as well as TCP (UDP ASSOCIATE), so call media can use the gateway. Telegram itself warns that a proxy may lower call quality, and the call counts as traffic.
Telegram Desktop 6.1 (September 2025) and newer no longer shows Use proxy for calls, and the Android app starts calls without the proxy. On those apps calls connect from your own network, even with the proxy on. To keep your IP away from the other side, set Peer-to-peer under Privacy and Security → Calls to Nobody: calls then run through Telegram's servers.
If it does not work
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| Status not available or endless connecting | Host gate.aeonproxy.com, port 7001 with SOCKS5 (7000 only with HTTP on desktop), login and password. |
| Unavailable although the password is right | A key in the login that is not in the lists (a misspelled city, for example), or no traffic left on the product. |
| Drops and reconnects every few minutes | A rotating login. Add -sid-…-ttl-60. |
| No HTTP option on the phone | The phone apps have no HTTP type. Use SOCKS5 on port 7001. |
| Use for calls is missing | It exists on iPhone and iPad only, and only while a SOCKS5 proxy is selected. |
Questions
No. MTProto proxies are Telegram's own type and use a secret instead of a login. Our gateway speaks SOCKS5 and HTTP, so choose SOCKS5.
No. Sponsored channels come from MTProto proxies registered by their owners. A SOCKS5 proxy has none.
Yes. Give each app its own sticky key (-sid-tg01, -sid-web01) so they do not share or swap an exit. Traffic is counted for the login in total.
