Octo Browser proxy setup
Octo Browser can send a profile's UDP traffic, WebRTC and HTTP/3 included, through a SOCKS5 proxy, and our SOCKS5 port relays UDP. Give each profile its own sticky SOCKS5 line.
- Protocols
- HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 and SSH. Use SOCKS5 (7001), or HTTP (7000) without UDP
- UDP
- Over SOCKS5 in Octo 3.0.6 and later; Octo marks a proxy that carries UDP with a UDP icon
- Where the setting is
- Profile → Proxy / VPN, or the Proxy Manager → Bulk Add
- Line format
protocol://user:pass@host:port; profiles also readhost:port:user:pass- Works with
- Residential and mobile proxies
Before you start
- Octo Browser 3.0.6 or later, signed in, with one profile for each of your own accounts, client ads accounts you manage with their access, or QA and testing tasks, within each platform's rules.
- Your login and password from the Residential or Mobile page, and traffic on that product.
- Lines from the generator: Session Sticky, Session time 60 min, Protocol SOCKS5, Format
protocol://user:pass@host:port, one line per profile.
- Host
gate.aeonproxy.com- Port (SOCKS5)
7001- Login
- your proxy login, with targeting keys if you need them:
LOGIN-cc-us-sid-abc123 - Password
- your proxy password
Copy the login and password from the Residential or Mobile page of the dashboard; the generator there also writes ready lines. Key syntax: targeting and sessions.
Add the proxy to a profile
- Click Create Profile, or edit a profile, and click the Proxy / VPN field. It reads Set proxy / VPN while the profile has none.
- Paste a line into Enter IP or domain with Ctrl+V:
socks5://LOGIN-cc-us-city-losangeles-sid-oct01-ttl-60:[email protected]:7001. Octo fills in the protocol, host, port, login and password. - Click Check proxy. A green Available with the country flag means the line works; a UDP icon appears when the proxy carries UDP.
- To reuse the line, tick Save to the Proxy Manager and name it. Save the profile and click Start.
Add many lines with Bulk Add
In the Proxy Manager (My proxies and VPN), click Bulk Add and paste the lines or drag in a text file. Every format it lists starts with the protocol, such as protocol://login:password@ip:port, our protocol://user:pass@host:port. Unreadable lines get an ERROR mark. With a name prefix the lines become “prefix #1”, “prefix #2” and so on; give each profile a different one in its Proxy / VPN field.
Check the proxy
Octo checks the connection when a profile starts and when you click Check proxy. Green means verified, red failed, gray not checked in the last 5 minutes. The info icon by the IP shows the exit's ISP, connection type, location and time zone; by default Octo sets the profile's languages, time zone and geolocation from that IP.
Inside the profile, the IP checker shows which IP WebRTC and DNS give away. Keep WebRTC on Based on IP. With an HTTP line, which carries no UDP, Disable UDP stops UDP that would leave outside the proxy while TCP keeps working.
Rotating or sticky
Use sticky lines. Octo sets languages and time zone from the IP at every start, and a rotating login (no -sid-) changes the IP with every connection. Keep rotating lines for quick tests.
socks5://LOGIN-cc-us-city-losangeles-sid-oct01-ttl-60:[email protected]:7001 # profile 1
socks5://LOGIN-cc-us-city-losangeles-sid-oct02-ttl-60:[email protected]:7001 # profile 2A sticky line keeps its IP for at most 60 minutes, and no residential or mobile IP can be held for days. Then it gets a new IP in Los Angeles. Keep the key and the targeting as they are, and the languages and time zone Octo sets at the next start still match.
If it does not work
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| Red Unavailable after Check proxy | The protocol and port: socks5:// with 7001, http:// with 7000. Then the login, password and keys: an unknown key gets 407. |
| The check fails on a line that works in the proxy tester | The check gives up after 5 seconds by default, and a mobile exit can be slower: run it again. Octo's guide also suggests another internet connection, as some ISPs block its checker. |
| No UDP icon | UDP needs a SOCKS5 line on port 7001 and Octo 3.0.6 or later; http:// lines never get it. If both are in place and the icon is still missing, tell support when you ran the check. |
| ERROR next to a Bulk Add line | Octo could not read the line. Generate the list again in the protocol://user:pass@host:port format. |
| Connection errors in a running profile | No traffic left (402) or one failed exit (502). After you change a profile's proxy, save it and start the profile again. |
Questions
A temporary proxy lives only in one profile's settings, and every plan allows any number. Proxy Manager lines are one click to reuse but count against your plan's proxy limit.
Yes, an http:// line on port 7000 works for browsing, but HTTP carries no UDP: no UDP icon, and the WebRTC setting decides what sites see.
It blocks images above the size you set (10 KB by default; 0 blocks all), so pages download less of the traffic we count in GB both ways. Octo suggests keeping 10 KB so captchas still work.
