Telecom tariffs, Monrovia news and NGO vacancies

Tariffs

Bundles and plans from MTN, Orange and Telecel

MTN sells 1 GB for seven days at $2 and 30 GB for 14 days at $30. Telecel’s home fibre opens at $30 a month for 15 Mbps, Orange’s Fiber Home Box at $65. In October 2026 the LTA consulted on draft Tariff Guidelines after finding frequent price changes and long promotions, so keep a dated copy of each page.

News and ads

FrontPageAfrica, The News and the Liberian Observer

FrontPageAfrica has business, politics and county news sections, and the Observer adds a marketplace. If you buy ad space for Liberian readers, load the page from a Liberian IP and look at the slot a local visitor gets.

Jobs

NGO, UN and mining vacancies

Jobs Liberia names NGOs, international organisations and miners such as ArcelorMittal among the employers behind its openings, and places most professional work in Monrovia.

Search and devices

Google on phones, some Bing on desktops

StatCounter gave Google 97.1% of Liberian searches in October 2026: 99.67% on phones and 83.26% on desktops, where Bing reached 14.81%. Phones made 73.63% of page views, and Android ran 90.17% of mobile traffic. SERP proxies covers rank tracking.

Users: APNIC Labs, table dated 2 November 2026, 14 networks adding up to 119.73%. IPv6: to 3 November 2026, when 5.57% of Liberian users were capable, against 9.31% for Western Africa. Starlink (AS14593, 11.76% of users, IPv6 55.65%) is satellite and left out, with Cloudflare, Datacamp and C-Squared. Mobile: LTA, as printed; its two figures add to 100.2%. The same report says most fixed providers have under 50 subscribers. Network keys exist for US, UK and German logins only; read the ASN in a lookup to tell an Orange exit from an MTN one.

For developers

A Liberian exit that sorts prices by currency

A session on -cc-lr holds for 30 minutes. The script rejects any exit whose lookup does not read LR, names the network from its ASN and marks each price string as LRD or USD.

import re, requests, uuid
GATE = "gate.aeonproxy.com:7000"
# Country key only. Orange prints LRD and $ on one offers page, and "L$" also holds a
# dollar sign, so test the Liberian forms before the plain "$".
NET = {"AS37094": "Orange", "AS37410": "Lonestar MTN", "AS328136": "Telecel",
       "AS329082": "Connect Services", "AS328196": "Powernet"}

def currency(price):
    if re.search(r"LRD|L\$", price):
        return "LRD"
    return "USD" if "$" in price else None

def liberian_exit(tries=10):
    for _ in range(tries):
        login = f"ap_a1b2c3-cc-lr-sid-{uuid.uuid4().hex[:8]}-time-1800"
        proxy = f"http://{login}:PASS@{GATE}"
        try:
            look = requests.get("https://ipinfo.io/json", proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy}, timeout=20).json()
        except requests.RequestException:
            continue # silence: open another session
        if look.get("country") == "LR":
            look["network"] = NET.get(look.get("org", "").split(" ")[0], look.get("org"))
            return proxy, look # this exit holds for 30 minutes
    return None, None

proxy, look = liberian_exit()
if proxy:
    print(look["ip"], look.get("city"), look["network"])
    print(currency("10 LRD"), currency("L$171"), currency("$1"))

With a pool this size liberian_exit() can return nothing, so run it again later. Sessions last 60 to 21600 seconds; with no -sid-, each request gets a new address.

A Liberian quirk

Dollar signs in a Liberian dollar market

The Central Bank of Liberia calls the Liberian dollar the official currency, and on 4 November 2026 it quoted L$171.3815 selling and L$169.3336 buying per US dollar. MTN’s bundles, Telecel’s plans and Orange’s fibre are all printed with a plain $.

Orange’s data offers page holds both. Its Orange Money Turbo bundles start at 10 LRD, and its Data Promo bundles, from 1.7 GB to 13 GB, at $1. A price stored without its currency can be off by a factor of about 170.

Mobile networks

Phone coverage, and Orange’s 5G launch

The News reported on 2 November 2026 that Orange had launched 5G, after 3G in 2012 and 4G in 2016. Its customers need the Max it app, a 5G phone and a designated coverage area. Logins have no key for radio technology, so you cannot ask for 5G on an exit.

LTA, Sector Data Snapshot, 2023 to 2025. Mobile data traffic rose from 91.1 billion MB to 182.9 billion MB over those years. By mid-2025 Orange’s subscriptions had grown 13.5% in a year and MTN’s had fallen 3.7%.

Liberia’s Cybercrime Act and new data law

The President approved the Cybercrime Act of 2025 on 3 July 2026, and the printed copy is dated 24 July, according to FrontPage Africa. Its offences include unauthorised computer access, interception, system interference and misuse of devices. On 19 August 2026 the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications announced that a Data Protection Act had been signed as well, covering how personal information is collected, processed, stored and used (WeAreTechAfrica). We could not open the text of either act, so we quote no section, penalty or regulator, and we cannot say whether they mention VPNs or proxies.

The LTA’s Cybersecurity Regulations of 13 January 2026 (LTA-REG-0013-2026) bind licensed telecom providers, and none of their 44 definitions covers a VPN or proxy. A text search of the LTA’s satellite guidelines, draft value-added services rules and international traffic rules finds neither word, so nothing we could read registers, licenses or bans people who use them. Keep prices, and leave names and phone numbers out of what you store. We do not support gambling or betting sites.

Not legal advice. Check the printed acts before relying on this summary. Of the LTA’s Cybersecurity Regulations we read Part I, the definitions and sections 7 and 8; we did not read the rest, the Telecommunications Act 2007 or the Consumer Protection Regulations. Liberia proxy questions

Your traffic goes out through a home or phone line in Liberia, with a Liberian IP address. People use one to read Orange and MTN tariffs as a local customer does, see how a Liberian news page shows their ad, or check search results with gl=lr.

1K+ residential IPs in the pool, October 2026, and the figure moves as homes connect and disconnect. No separate count exists for mobile; those exits run on Orange and Lonestar MTN where the pool has them, and the order page shows availability.

A login names the country and nothing finer. For counties and towns, see what the dashboard generator offers, where available, and check the place in our IP checker, since geolocation databases differ at town level.

Orange and Lonestar MTN carry most Liberian users, and the mobile exits where the pool has them; the order page shows availability. Telecel and Connect Services are among the home ISPs. Logins cannot pick one, as ISP and carrier keys are limited to the US, the UK and Germany.

Those two are all Liberia has; the order page lists the countries with static IPs. Residential costs less and suits tariff pages, news and search. Mobile is $0.50 more per GB and makes sense for phone layouts, since phones made 73.63% of page views in October 2026.

Residential traffic runs from $3.49 per GB down to $1.69 at the top tier, and mobile from $3.99 to $2.19. ISP IPs are $4.00 and datacenter IPs $2.00 per month in the countries the order page lists. The pricing page has every tier and the current free trial terms.

The Liberian dollar is the official currency, and many telecom prices are in US dollars. Read the symbol: Orange writes 10 LRD on one bundle and $1 on another, and the central bank writes L$. Store the currency with each price and convert at a dated rate.

Nothing we could read registers, licenses or bans proxy or VPN users, though we could not open the Cybercrime Act of 2025 or the Data Protection Act signed in 2026. The first covers unauthorised access, so keep to public pages. Not legal advice.

Free proxies rarely say who runs them, and whoever does can read or change what passes through, passwords included. Look the address up first. AS37094 or AS37410 with country LR points to a Liberian line; a hosting company in that field means a rented server.

In a browser extension, app or HTTP client, enter host gate.aeonproxy.com, port 7000, username ap_a1b2c3-cc-lr and your password. For a fixed exit, extend the username with -sid-mon01-time-3600, which holds it for an hour. The docs cover SOCKS5.
