Starnieuws is 2nd in Ahrefs’ October 2026 list for Suriname, ordered by estimated organic search traffic. Waterkant is 5th and De Ware Tijd 16th, all in Dutch. Follow a brand or a topic on them as local readers see it.
Of the 96 rows that list prints for its top 100, 23 are .nl addresses, among them ad.nl, nos.nl and amazon.nl, and 4 are .sr; kpn.com is 20th. A Surinamese IP shows what Dutch sites offer a visitor in Suriname, such as delivery and price.
Ahrefs’ shopping list runs Shein, Amazon, AliExpress, eBay, amazon.nl, ah.nl and bol.com. Local selling is on Marktplaats.sr, a test version on 3 November 2026 with prices in SRD or USD, and in Telesur’s phone deals, in SRD.
Google had 92.29% of Surinamese searches in October 2026 and Bing 6.35%, but Bing reached 20.18% on desktops and 0.28% on phones (StatCounter). Phones and desktops were close, 50.57% and 48.48% of page views. SERP proxies covers both engines.
The 2012 census counted 541,638 residents; the statistics office’s site lists no results yet from the count begun in October 2024. Paramaribo and Wanica hold 66.31% of them. A Surinamese login sets only the country, -cc-sr; the dashboard generator lists the districts and towns on offer.
Population: Algemeen Bureau voor de Statistiek, census of 13 August 2012, counted by district and ressort (commune); shares computed from those counts. GeoNames writes each district with the word, as Paramaribo District. Where available, exits also come from Welgelegen, Groningen, Nieuw Nickerie and Cottica. Geolocation databases can disagree on the place, so look an exit up in our IP checker first.
APNIC Labs places 91.09% of Surinamese internet users on TeleSur’s network and 18.07% on Digicel’s. TeleSur launched 5G on 25 November 2019 in inner Paramaribo and began fibre to the home in the capital in April 2024. TAS, the regulator, publishes no shares by operator that we could open.

On 3 November 2026 the National Assembly listed the Bescherming Privacy en Persoonsgegevens bill among those under treatment, and the bill itself relies on the right to privacy in article 17 of the Constitution. Treat names and phone numbers in listings as private all the same, and collect prices and counts.
Article 187b of the Criminal Code, in the text of S.B. 2015 no. 44, makes hacking an offence: intentionally and unlawfully entering an automated system, for instance by breaking a security measure or using a false key or identity. It carries up to one year in prison, a third-category fine or both, and up to four years if data are then copied. The Wet Telecommunicatievoorzieningen of 2004 and the other texts we read set no rule that registers, licenses or bans proxy or VPN use. Homes and phones on TeleSur and Digicel, the networks APNIC credits with 91.09% and 18.07% of users, and on smaller providers such as Parbonet. The login has no network key: those are for the US, the UK and Germany. A lookup’s ASN says which one you landed on, AS27775 or AS52398.
No static IPs are on sale for Suriname, so the choice is residential or mobile; the order page lists the countries that have them. Residential fits news, listings and search results. Mobile is $0.50 dearer per GB and fits operator offers and pages built for phones, which made 50.57% of Surinamese page views in October 2026.
The Surinamese texts we read do not register, license or ban proxy or VPN use. Article 187b of the Criminal Code punishes hacking, including entry by breaking a security measure, and a privacy bill was still before the National Assembly on 3 November 2026. Not legal advice.
Usually you do not know who runs them, and whoever does can read or alter what passes through, passwords too. A real Surinamese line shows AS27775 or AS52398 with country SR. If the lookup prints a hosting firm, or a country other than SR, it is a server somewhere else.

Welgelegen is a ressort, or commune, of Paramaribo with 19,304 residents in 2012, and place lists can print a ressort as if it were a town. Groningen is the capital of Saramacca, with 2,818. Check the region field too: GeoNames gives Paramaribo District for the first and Saramacca District for the second.
It depends on the site. Telesur uses the Surinamese dollar, SRD; Marktplaats.sr offers SRD and USD; RE/MAX Suriname lists homes in euros. Dutch stores such as ah.nl and bol.com also rank in the local top 100. Keep the currency next to every figure you collect.
