Why Guyana

Used cars, cricket and local news in Guyanese search

Used cars

Two Japanese exporters high on the list

beforward.jp is 18th in Guyana by estimated search traffic and sbtjapan.com 32nd (Ahrefs Top, October 2026). BE FORWARD listed about 520,000 cars on 3 November 2026, priced in US dollars by default, with Guyana in its country list. Record year, mileage, steering side and price for each car.

Cricket

Eight cricket sites in the top 100

cricinfo.com is 3rd, cricbuzz.com 9th, windiescricket.com 26th and cplt20.com 62nd. Use a Guyanese IP for rank and ad checks on sports terms.

Local sites

The weather service leads the Guyanese names

hydromet.gov.gy comes first among local sites at 44th, then guyanachronicle.com (55th), stabroeknews.com (78th), skilledguyanese.com (97th) and newsroom.gy (102nd). Amazon, 10th, and Shein, 21st, head the shopping list.

Search

Desktops ahead of phones, and Bing on desktops

Desktops produced 67.78% of Guyanese page views in October 2026 and phones 31.29%; the desktop figure ranged from 49.87% to 80.16% over twelve months. Google had 89.29% of searches and Bing 8.77%, which splits into 21.39% on desktops and 0.18% on phones (StatCounter). See SERP proxies for both engines.

Coverage

Georgetown, Linden and New Amsterdam across ten regions

The preliminary count for census day, 15 September 2022, is 878,674 people. Georgetown has 125,683 of them, 14.30%, and the ten towns together 25.70%; most Guyanese live in villages, mainly along the coast. A login fixes the country with -cc-gy, and the dashboard generator shows the regions and towns on offer.

Population: Bureau of Statistics, Preliminary Report, Tables 1.6 and 1.9; town figures leave out the institutional population. Lookups print the region name without its number. Where available, exits also come from Skeldon, Leonora, Tuschen and Rockstone. A lookup of ten addresses on the three main networks on 3 November 2026 read Georgetown nine times on ipinfo.io, so open an exit in our IP checker before relying on another town.

Networks

One (GTT), ENet and Digicel, with their registry names

APNIC Labs puts 48.27% of Guyanese users on the network of One Communications, formerly GTT, 31.72% on ENet’s and 17.85% on Digicel’s. All three sell mobile and fixed home service. The Public Utilities Commission reports more than one million mobile subscribers and more than 130,000 fixed broadband subscribers for 2025; the statistics we read give no split by operator.

Users: APNIC Labs, 1 November 2026, each network estimated on its own (the full list adds up to 107.65%). IPv6: APNIC to 2 November 2026, when 27.48% of Guyanese users were capable, against 23.96% a year earlier and 45.07% for South America. Addresses: RIPEstat, 3 November 2026, prefixes merged, which leaves about 16 estimated users per address on ENet and about 25 on Digicel. Left out: Starlink, the government’s eGovernment Unit (2.11%) and cloud networks. ISP and carrier keys exist only for the US, the UK and Germany, so a lookup’s ASN is how you tell these apart.

For developers

One exit on each Guyanese network

Each session holds its exit (-cc-gy) for 30 minutes. The script throws away lookups outside GY, turns the ASN into the brand people know and the region name into the number Guyanese use, and stops once it has one exit per brand.

def one_exit_per_brand(tries=24):

for brand, (proxy, region, town) in one_exit_per_brand().items():
    print(brand, "Region", region, town)

A new sid means a new exit, and dropping -sid- rotates on every request. -time- runs from 60 to 21600 seconds. Brands come from the ASN since Guyanese logins take no carrier key.

A Guyanese quirk

New brands and networks, and registry names that lag behind

All three main operators appear in lookups under another name, and since 2025 a phone number no longer identifies a network.

ENet enters mobile

ENet, formerly E-Networks, tested “unlimited talk, text and data” plans on a 4G/5G VoLTE network next to GTT and Digicel (Stabroek News). AS52253 still reads E-Networks Inc.

Number portability starts

Customers can change operator and keep their number, so a number’s prefix no longer shows its network. For an exit, rely on the ASN.

Starlink gets a licence

Starlink (Guyana) Inc. was licensed for fixed satellite broadband. APNIC now shows 7.50% of users on it.

Mobile passes one million

The PUC reports subscribers up from about 560,000 in 2011, with tele-density above 120%, which its chairman links to multiple SIM cards.

US$25 million for fibre and mobile

News Source Guyana reports that One Communications, formerly GTT, will invest this sum in 2026. AS19863 still reads Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Co., with hostnames ending in gol.net.gy or gtt.co.gy.

Cybercrime and data protection rules in Guyana

Section 3 of the Cybercrime Act 2018 (Act No. 16 of 2018) makes it an offence to access another person’s computer system intentionally, without or beyond authorisation, or by infringing a security measure: a fine of G$3 million and three years on summary conviction, G$5 million and five years on indictment. Section 6 covers intentionally acquiring another person’s electronic data without lawful excuse or justification, with G$8 million and five years on indictment.

The Data Protection Act 2023 (Act No. 18 of 2023) was still waiting for its commencement order on the latest reports we could read, from March and May 2026, although a Data Protection Commissioner is in post and setting up the office. Neither the Cybercrime Act nor the 2023 bill text mentions proxies or VPNs, and we found no rule that licenses, registers or bans their use. A Gaming Authority Bill tabled in July 2026 would tighten rules on betting shops and mobile apps; betting sites are not a supported use.

Guyana proxy questions

It is an address on a Guyanese network, such as One (GTT), ENet or Digicel, that your traffic leaves from, so local sites treat you as a visitor from Guyana. You need one for job ads, G$ shop prices, ad checks on cricket terms and Google results for gl=gy.

There are 38K+ residential IPs in the pool, October 2026, and home connections coming and going move that number. No separate figure exists for mobile. Mobile exits use One, ENet and Digicel where the pool has them; see the order page for availability.

Not in the login: -cc-gy picks the country. The dashboard generator shows which regions and towns are on offer, where available. A lookup prints East Berbice-Corentyne for Region 6, so filter on that name, then confirm the town in our IP checker, because geolocation databases disagree most at that level.

Households and phones on One Communications, ENet and Digicel, the networks most Guyanese use. A lookup names them by registry: Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Co., E-Networks Inc. and U Mobile (Cellular) Inc. Xen1 Networks is a small fourth.

One, ENet and Digicel, where the pool has them; the order page shows availability. Carrier keys are for US, UK and German logins, so you cannot choose one in the login. Android ran 78.83% of Guyanese mobile traffic in October 2026.

Choose between residential and mobile, the two options for Guyana; the order page lists the countries with static IPs. Residential suits ads, prices and search, with desktops at 67.78% of page views. Mobile is $0.50 more per GB and fits phone pages and app checks.

On the pricing page. A GB of residential is $3.49 on the first tier and $1.69 on the top one; a GB of mobile $3.99 and $2.19. Static IPs, in the countries that have them, are $4.00 (ISP) and $2.00 (datacenter) a month. There is a free trial, with its current terms on the same page.

The texts we read are silent on proxies and VPNs. What you do through one falls under sections 3 and 6 of the Cybercrime Act 2018, and under the Data Protection Act 2023 once it commences. Not legal advice.

Your traffic, logins included, passes through a stranger’s machine. Check the address before you send anything: AS19863, AS52253 or AS52433 with country GY is a Guyanese line, and a cloud company’s name is a server somewhere.

Enter host gate.aeonproxy.com and port 7000 as an HTTP proxy in your browser extension or script, with username ap_a1b2c3-cc-gy and your password. For one exit over two hours, add -sid-geo01-time-7200 to the username. The docs cover SOCKS5.

The standard rate is 14%. The Guyana Revenue Authority says section 90 of the VAT Act requires an advertised price to include the tax and say so; a price without it must also show the tax and the final price with equal prominence. A local shop we read prints G$ and GYD, and Japanese car exporters quote US dollars.
