Why the Solomon Islands

Airline fares, power tariffs and search results by device

Solomon Airlines’ Spring Sale, on its site on 5 November 2026, priced each route in the currency of its starting point: Honiara to Brisbane from SBD 2,405 one way, Brisbane to Honiara from AUD 435. The site’s menu read AUD on our visit from outside the country, so keep the currency next to every fare you store.

Local tariffs are in Solomon dollars. Solomon Power’s sheet for October 2026 charges prepaid homes SBD 7.25 per kWh under 100 kWh and SBD 8.19 above 200 kWh, and Satsol’s home plans run from SBD 399 to SBD 699 a month. Solomon Times prints the day’s rate on its front page, which on 6 November 2026 was USD 0.1238 and AUD 0.1769 to the Solomon dollar.

Search divides by device. StatCounter gave Google 83.36% and Bing 15.27% in October 2026, with Bing on 36.6% of desktop searches and Google on 98.81% of phone searches. Phones made 59.45% of page views, and Android ran 88.9% of mobile traffic. SERP proxies covers rank tracking on both engines.

In the 2019 census 225,945 people, 44.7% of those aged 12 and over, owned a mobile phone, and Honiara residents were 55.8% of the people who used one for social media.

Coverage

Honiara, Noro, Auki and the ten census areas

SINSO’s 2019 census counted 720,956 people, and its projection for 2026 is 813,005. Honiara City Council has 129,569, and the Tandai and Malango wards beside it take the Honiara urban area to 169,721. Population: SINSO, 2019 census national report, Table 4.2.2; shares of the national total are ours. Towns are the census’s urban localities. GeoLite places Our Telekom’s AS45891 blocks in Honiara, Auki, Noro, Malango, Taro, Buala and Kirakira (data of 3 November 2026). City placement is where available and other databases can disagree, so confirm a town in our IP checker.

Networks

Our Telekom, then Satsol and bmobile

APNIC Labs puts 96.18% of users in the Solomon Islands on Solomon Telekom, which sells as Our Telekom, and 2.51% on Satsol. TCSI, the regulator, lists two mobile operators, Solomon Telekom and bmobile | Vodafone, and prints no shares for them.

Users: APNIC Labs, 2 November 2026, with Our Telekom’s two ASNs added together and the IPv6 figure of AS45891. Each share is its own estimate, so the full table adds up to 120.98%. The country read 13.71% IPv6-capable on 3 November 2026, against 1.84% on 2 November 2025 and 27.28% for Melanesia. AS45891 announced 9,216 IPv4 addresses (merged, RIPEstat, 5 November 2026) against APNIC’s 86,677 users, about 9 per address. bmobile’s AS132462 announced 1,024 addresses and has no row in APNIC’s table. TCSI’s latest annual report, for 2020, counted 428,909 mobile subscribers, with 59% penetration and 96% coverage. Satellite networks and the wholesale Submarine Cable Company (AS139609, 0.53%) are left out. Only US, UK and German logins have network keys; elsewhere a lookup’s ASN tells one network from another.

For developers

One lookup, then one public page from the Solomon Islands

A 15-minute session on -cc-sb has to pass one test, a lookup that reads SB, before the script names its network and fetches one public page.

import requests, uuid
GATE = "gate.aeonproxy.com:7000"
# Country key only. Our Telekom answers on two ASNs, and GeoLite places one Satsol block
# in Australia, so accept an exit on its country field and print the network after that.
NET = {"AS45891": "Our Telekom", "AS134525": "Our Telekom", "AS132468": "Satsol", "AS132462": "bmobile"}

def solomon_exit(tries=10):
    for _ in range(tries):
        login = f"ap_a1b2c3-cc-sb-sid-{uuid.uuid4().hex[:8]}-time-900"
        proxy = f"http://{login}:PASS@{GATE}"
        try:
            geo = requests.get("https://ipinfo.io/json", proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy}, timeout=20).json()
        except requests.RequestException:
            continue # no reply: open a new session
        if geo.get("country") == "SB":
            geo["network"] = NET.get(geo.get("org", "").split(" ")[0], geo.get("org"))
            return proxy, geo # this exit holds for 15 minutes
    return None, None # nothing free in this run

proxy, geo = solomon_exit()
if proxy:
    print(geo["ip"], geo.get("city"), geo["network"])
    page = requests.get("https://www.solomontimes.com/", proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy}, timeout=30)
    print(page.status_code, len(page.text))

With 312 addresses a run can end empty, and the function then returns None. Sessions run 60 to 21600 seconds, and leaving out -sid- rotates the exit on each request.

A Solomon Islands quirk

A second operator, a first cable and a third network on the way

TCSI lists two mobile operators, and Satsol, an internet provider, has funding for a third network, so any carrier list here needs a date on it.

bmobile enters

The mobile market gets its second operator, and TCSI’s count for the year stands at 115,500 subscribers.

Coral Sea cable in service

Commercial service starts on 1 February on the link from Honiara to Sydney, with a domestic cable from Honiara to Auki, Noro and Taro.

Mobile takes most downloads

Subscribers fall by 49,207 to 428,909 over the year, and mobile reaches 81% of all downloads by the end of it.

Satsol’s funding reported

Satsol’s media page lists a report of 2 October that a group of banks led by the Asian Development Bank has funded its move from broadband into mobile.

Satsol mobile expected

Commercial mobile service is expected in the second half of the year. For now Satsol sells internet and TV to homes and businesses.

The 2009 Telecommunications Act and the Cybercrime Bill in the Solomon Islands

Section 72 of the Telecommunications Act 2009 says a service provider shall not collect, use, maintain or disclose information about a user without consent, and the Telecommunications Commission of Solomon Islands (TCSI) regulates providers under the Act. We found no general data protection act in the sources we could open. PacLII, which publishes the country’s Acts, refused our requests on 5 November 2026, so treat that finding as unconfirmed and store no names or phone numbers.

Section 120 makes it an offence to access telecommunications facilities by infringing security measures with intent to obtain telecommunications data, and section 121 sets fines in penalty units or up to seven years in prison for a person. Island Sun reported on 6 May 2026 that a Cybercrime Bill is being developed after Cabinet approval, with drafting still pending, and that the Act is under review. The 2009 Act does not use the words proxy or VPN, and we found no other rule on them.

Not legal advice. We could not read the Penal Code. Court rulings on scraping from 2022 to 2026 are in our case review.

Solomon Islands proxy questions

It sends your traffic out through a line in the country, so a site treats you as a local visitor. A Solomon Islands IP lets you check Solomon Airlines fares, see how a page or an ad appears on Solomon Times, and read local Google and Bing results.

312 residential IPs in the pool, October 2026. These are household connections, so which of them are online moves through the day, and rotation soon comes back to one it has used. Plan on one Solomon Airlines fare search, one tariff check at Solomon Power or one Google result at a time; pulling every Solomon Times article in a run asks too much of them. Mobile has no count of its own.

Logins choose the country, -cc-sb. Provinces and towns on offer, where available, are in the dashboard generator. Confirm the town in our IP checker, because databases can disagree at that level.

Most people there are on Our Telekom, with Satsol and bmobile behind it, and exits sit on home and phone lines where the pool has them. The login cannot pick one, since network keys exist only for the US, the UK and Germany. A lookup prints the network you received, and that can be a satellite service, because those have users here too.

TCSI lists two mobile operators, Our Telekom and bmobile | Vodafone. Mobile exits run on them where the pool has them, and the order page shows availability. TCSI publishes no split between the two.

Those are the two options for this country, and the order page names the countries with static IPs. Residential is cheaper and handles fares, news pages and search. For phone layouts take mobile, at $0.50 more per GB; phones made 59.45% of page views in October 2026.

Residential is $3.49 per GB on the smallest order and $1.69 on the largest, mobile $3.99 to $2.19. Where the order page offers static IPs, ISP is $4.00 and datacenter $2.00 per IP a month. Each tier and the current free trial terms are on the pricing page.

Solomon Power, Satsol and Heritage Park print SBD, while Solomon Airlines prices a route from its starting point. The port authority’s charges carry no currency code at all. Store the currency beside each figure.

The Telecommunications Act 2009 does not mention proxies or VPNs, and we found no other rule on them, though we could not open the Penal Code. A Cybercrime Bill is in drafting and may change that answer. Not legal advice.

Whoever runs one stays unknown to you and can read or change what you send, logins included. Check the address first: AS45891, AS134525 or AS132468 with country SB points to a local line, while a hosting brand there suggests a rented machine.

Your browser extension or HTTP client takes host gate.aeonproxy.com and port 7000, with ap_a1b2c3-cc-sb as the username. Extend that username with -sid-sb01-time-1800 to hold one exit for 30 minutes. SOCKS5 settings are in the docs.
