Avito tops Similarweb’s September 2026 ranking of Moroccan e-commerce sites and its classifieds list, ahead of marocannonces.com. Jumia ranks 18th among all sites in the country. Temu, AliExpress and Amazon.com fill places two to four of the shopping list, so a Moroccan price study sets local listings against cross-border offers.
In the 2024 census, 99.2% of literate Moroccans aged ten and over could read and write Arabic, 57.7% French and 20.5% English, and French sites such as leboncoin.fr and skyscanner.fr appear in Moroccan top-five lists. Set French or Arabic as the browser and search language for Moroccan sessions.
Google answers 95.38% of Moroccan searches (StatCounter, September 2026). Desktops produced 53.33% of page views that month, although the census found only 8.8% of people owning a computer or tablet and 84.4% a personal phone; StatCounter counts page views on tagged sites, the census counts people.
The 2024 census counted 36,828,330 people, and seven cities hold 37.8% of the urban population. Our keys follow the English names in geolocation data, so Marrakech becomes marrakesh and Fès becomes fes.
| City | Population, 2024 census | Region as ipinfo.io names it | Region key | City key |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Casablanca | 3.236 million | Casablanca-Settat | casablancasettat | casablanca |
| Tangier | 1.275 million | Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima | tangertetouanalhoceima | tangier |

| Meknes | 562,000 | Fes-Meknes | fesmeknes | meknes |
| Rabat | 516,000 | Rabat-Salé-Kénitra | rabatsalekenitra | rabat |
| Agadir | Not among the seven largest | Souss-Massa | No region key | agadir |
Populations: HCP, 2024 census, legal population on 1 September 2024. In a sample of 40 exits through our gateway on 27 October 2026, placed by ipinfo.io, Casablanca had 9, Agadir 6 and Marrakesh 5; Tangier, Oujda, Beni Mellal, Tétouan, Fes and Tan-Tan had 2 each. Region targeting put 20 of 24 exits where asked; the four misses all came out in Casablanca or Marrakesh. City targeting matched 19 of 24, and every miss was a Rabat request: two landed in Temara and one in Salé, both in the same region, one in Casablanca and one in Marrakesh. Check a Rabat exit before you rely on it.
ANRT, the telecoms regulator, counted 57.06 million mobile lines at the end of March 2026, shared almost equally by Orange, inwi and Maroc Telecom; 85.4% of them are prepaid. ipinfo.io lists the operators under company names: Maroc Telecom as Office National des Postes et Telecommunications (IAM), Orange as MEDITELECOM and inwi as Wana Corporate.
| Operator | ASN | Share of mobile lines | IPv6 | Residential sample | Mobile sample |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Orange Maroc (MEDITELECOM) | AS36925 | 34.38% | 9.5% | 8 | 2 |
| inwi (Wana Corporate) | AS36884 | 34.04% | 3.2% | 9 | 5 |
| Maroc Telecom (IAM) | AS36903 · AS6713 | 31.58% | 0.1% | 22 | 5 |
| MARWAN (CNRST) | AS30983 | Research and education network | 0.5% | 1 | 0 |
Mobile lines: ANRT, end of March 2026. IPv6-capable share of users: APNIC Labs, 30 days to 26 October 2026; Morocco overall is at 3.73%, up from 0.28% a year earlier. The last two columns count exits in our 27 October 2026 samples (40 residential, 12 mobile), not each network’s size in the pool. Keys for a chosen ISP or carrier exist only in the US, the UK and Germany, so sort Moroccan sessions by ASN.
Counting 4G and 5G home boxes, ANRT recorded 4.32 million fixed internet connections at the end of March 2026. Fibre was ahead, with 1.495 million FTTH lines against 1.400 million on ADSL; three months earlier ADSL had still led.
Shares are our arithmetic on ANRT’s counts. A Moroccan home exit can run over fibre, copper or a box on a mobile network; 5G made up 8.4% of mobile internet subscriptions on the same date.

https://ipinfo.io/jsonFor eight years Morocco kept GMT+1 and fell back to GMT for Ramadan. A decree of June 2026 ended both: since 20 September 2026 the country runs on GMT all year.
Decree 2.18.855 makes GMT+1 the legal time. From 2019 to 2026 clocks still went back to GMT for each Ramadan (tz database rules).
Clocks went back to GMT on 15 February and forward again on 22 March.
The decree returns Morocco to GMT as legal time and repeals the 2018 decree. It appears in Bulletin officiel no. 7521 of 29 June.
Release 2026c of the IANA tz database records permanent UTC+0 for Africa/Casablanca from 20 September.
Morocco runs on Greenwich Mean Time, and the tz rules hold no further change.
A system on time-zone data older than release 2026c still computes Africa/Casablanca as UTC+1, so the times it logs or shows for Moroccan pages are an hour off. Our IP checker shows an exit’s time zone and its current UTC offset.
Law 09-08 of 18 February 2009 governs personal data, and the CNDP enforces it. A processing operation needs a prior declaration to the CNDP, or its authorisation for some categories (Art. 12), and transfers abroad are restricted (Art. 43). Collecting personal data by fraudulent, unfair or unlawful means carries three months to a year in prison and/or a fine of MAD 20,000 to 200,000 (Art. 54). Names, phone numbers and photos in public listings remain personal data, so build Moroccan projects around prices, counts and listing attributes.
We found no Moroccan rule that licenses, registers or bans the use of a proxy or VPN by individuals. Data collected through a Moroccan exit still falls under Law 09-08, and each site’s terms apply.

A gateway login that sends your requests out through a Moroccan connection, typically a household line. You need one when a site answers Moroccan visitors differently: dirham prices on Avito or Jumia, Moroccan Google results, fares quoted inside the country, or your own app as people in Casablanca see it.
1.34M+ residential IPs in the pool, October 2026. We publish no count of Moroccan mobile IPs; our 12 mobile exits on 27 October 2026 came from inwi (5), Maroc Telecom (5) and Orange (2).
Five regions and seven cities have keys, where available. Region keys: -st-casablancasettat, -st-rabatsalekenitra, -st-marrakeshsafi, -st-fesmeknes, -st-tangertetouanalhoceima. City keys: -city-casablanca, -city-rabat, -city-marrakesh, -city-fes, -city-tangier, -city-agadir, -city-meknes. On 27 October 2026 ipinfo.io placed 20 of 24 region requests and 19 of 24 city requests where asked. Rabat was the weak spot, so check those exits.
The gateway takes the English names that geolocation databases use. In our check marrakech, fez and tanger were refused with 407, and so were marrakech-safi and grand casablanca. The region around Tangier keeps its French form, Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, so the region key is tangertetouanalhoceima while the city key is tangier.
In a sample of 40 residential exits on 27 October 2026, 22 came from Maroc Telecom, 9 from inwi, 8 from Orange and one from MARWAN, the research and education network.
Not with a key, since ISP and carrier targeting exists only in the US, the UK and Germany. Read the ASN of each exit instead: AS36903 or AS6713 for Maroc Telecom, AS36925 for Orange, AS36884 for inwi.
Rotating residential exits suit listings and prices on Avito, Jumia and Mubawab. Mobile exits fit app and mobile-page checks. An ISP proxy keeps one static address through long sessions on your own accounts; the order page shows whether Moroccan ISP IPs are in stock.
We found no Moroccan rule aimed at proxies or VPNs. Personal data falls under Law 09-08 and the CNDP, and collecting it by unfair or unlawful means is an offence under Article 54. This is not legal advice.
The person running a free proxy is unknown to you and sees every request you send unencrypted. Look up the ASN before you send anything through one: ipinfo.io counts 5,380 hosting IPs in Morocco, and a free exit on one of those is not a home line.
Use gate.aeonproxy.com, port 7000, as an HTTP proxy in your browser, extension or script, with -cc-ma after your login and your usual password. Add a region, a city or -sid-…-ttl-… for a sticky session. The pricing page shows the current terms of the free trial.
Africa/Casablanca, which has been UTC+0 since 02:00 on 20 September 2026 under Decree 2.26.530. If your browser or script still shows UTC+1 for Morocco, its time-zone data predates release 2026c of the tz database; update it before you test Moroccan pages that show times or schedules.
