Why Mongolia

A desktop-heavy market for classifieds and chain stores

Classifieds

Unegui, first in real estate

Ahrefs’ October 2026 list, ordered by estimated search traffic, puts unegui.mn 62nd in Mongolia and first in real estate. Its app covers clothes, property, cars, jobs and home appliances.

Retail

Nomin, Shoppy and eMonos

By their App Store texts, Nomin has 100,000+ products from 51 chain stores and Shoppy 1,000+ brands and 700,000 items. eMonos, an online pharmacy, is 31st overall and first in Ahrefs’ shopping list.

News

gogo.mn and ikon.mn in Cyrillic

gogo.mn is 19th in the same list and first among news sites; ikon.mn is 56th. Both publish in Mongolian Cyrillic, so press and brand monitoring needs search terms in that script.

Search

Desktops lead, and Bing shows up there

Desktops produced 64.74% of Mongolian page views in October 2026 and phones 34.69% (StatCounter). Google answered 90.17% of searches overall and 97.31% on phones, while Bing took 14.13% on desktops. SERP proxies covers checks on both engines.

Coverage

Mongolian residential proxies: Ulaanbaatar, Erdenet, Darkhan and the aimag centres

The National Statistics Office’s resident series gives 3,425,162 people for 2025, close to half of them in Ulaanbaatar. A Mongolian login sets only the country, -cc-mn; the dashboard generator shows which aimags and towns are on offer.

Population: National Statistics Office, resident population, 2025, by soum and district; its other series, Population of Mongolia, gives 3,591,120 for the country. Where available, exits also come from towns such as Choyr, Baruun-Urt, Tsetserleg, Uliastay and Dzuunmod, spelled here as place lists print them. When we looked up 72 random addresses on six Mongolian networks on ipinfo (3 November 2026), directly and not through our pool, it placed 70 in Ulan Bator, so open an exit in our IP checker before you rely on its town.

Networks

Mongolian mobile proxies and home lines: Unitel, Mobicom, Skytel and the rest

APNIC Labs credits Univision’s two ASNs with 67.07% of Mongolian users, Mobicom with 19.47% and Skymedia with 11.16%. Univision is part of Unitel Group, and Skytel’s site runs on Skymedia’s network. Exits come from homes and phones on these networks.

Users: APNIC Labs, page dated 1 November 2026; each share is its own estimate and the full column adds up to 112.41%. IPv6: APNIC to 2 November 2026; 47.84% of Mongolian users were capable, against 44.52% a year earlier. RIPEstat counts 3,584 IPv4 addresses announced by Mobicom’s AS55805 (merged, 3 November 2026) against APNIC’s 162,298 users there, about 45 users per address. Not listed: Starlink, research networks and hosting networks. Mongolian logins have no network key, since ISP and carrier keys are for the US, the UK and Germany; the ASN in a lookup names the network.

Mobile operators

Mobile subscription shares of the five operators

The latest shares we could read from the regulator, CRC, are for 2022, when it counted 4,835,520 active subscriptions. Japan’s communications ministry gives the same order for the end of June 2025, without percentages.

Skytel17.5% in 202217.5%
G-Mobile9.7% in 20229.7%
ONDO0.8% in 2022; licensed in 20210.8%

CRC, Main indicators of communications licensed services 2022; Japan’s MIC, Mongolia profile, fiscal 2025. All five won 5G spectrum in March 2025. By May 2025 all but ONDO had launched 5G in parts of central Ulaanbaatar, with about 20,000 5G subscribers at the end of June 2025.

For developers

A Mongolian exit outside the capital, in the spelling your data uses

Each login holds one Mongolian exit (-cc-mn) for 30 minutes. With outside_capital=True the script skips exits whose lookup region reads Ulaanbaatar, turns GeoNames spellings into the statistics office’s and names the network from the ASN.

import requests, uuid
GATE = "gate.aeonproxy.com:7000"
# Country key only. Lookups print GeoNames spellings; the statistics office writes others.
SPELLING = {"Ulan Bator": "Ulaanbaatar", "Darhan": "Darkhan", "Arvayheer": "Arvaikheer",
            "Saynshand": "Sainshand", "Dalandzadgad": "Dalanzadgad", "Bayanhongor": "Bayankhongor",
            "Mörön": "Murun", "Ölgii": "Ulgii"}
NETWORK = {"AS17882": "Univision", "AS55408": "Univision", "AS55805": "Mobicom", "AS10219": "Skymedia",
           "AS9484": "Mobinet", "AS141681": "ONDO", "AS24559": "G-Mobile", "AS9934": "Mongolia Telecom"}

def mongolian_exit(outside_capital=False, tries=20):
    for _ in range(tries):
        sid = uuid.uuid4().hex[:8]
        proxy = f"http://ap_a1b2c3-cc-mn-sid-{sid}-time-1800:PASS@{GATE}"
        try:
            geo = requests.get("https://ipinfo.io/json", proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy}, timeout=15).json()
        except requests.RequestException:
            continue # timed out: try another session
        if geo.get("country") != "MN":
            continue
        if outside_capital and geo.get("region") == "Ulaanbaatar":
            continue # the city field would read "Ulan Bator"
        geo["town"] = SPELLING.get(geo.get("city"), geo.get("city"))
        geo["network"] = NETWORK.get(geo.get("org", "").split(" ")[0], geo.get("org"))
        return proxy, geo # this URL keeps its exit for 30 minutes
    return None, None

proxy, geo = mongolian_exit(outside_capital=True)
if proxy:
    print(geo["ip"], geo["town"], geo.get("region"), geo["network"])

-time- runs from 60 to 21600 seconds, and leaving out -sid- gives a new exit per request. Exits outside the capital appear only where available, so the loop can return nothing.

A Mongolian quirk

Ulan Bator in the city field, Ulaanbaatar in the region field

Run a Mongolian address through ipinfo and one place appears in two spellings: city “Ulan Bator”, region “Ulaanbaatar”. GeoNames writes Darhan, Arvayheer, Saynshand and Dalandzadgad where the National Statistics Office writes Darkhan, Arvaikheer, Sainshand and Dalanzadgad. Some aimags change name altogether: Dornod is East Aimak, Tuv is Central Aimak and Dornogovi is East Gobi Aymag.

The statistics count by soum, so Erdenet’s 103,118 residents sit under Bayan-Undur and Choibalsan’s 46,773 under Kherlen. A second Kherlen, in Khentii, has 24,762 residents, which means population data has to be joined on aimag and soum together.

Prices and sums follow no single pattern. Nomin writes 119,000₮, with the sign after the number; ikon.mn headlines write ₮14.9 with a scale word after it, and “50 мянган төгрөг”, 50 thousand tögrög, in words. Store the raw string next to the parsed amount.

Mongolia’s data and cyber security laws, and CRC’s domain list

The Law on Personal Data Protection, adopted on 17 December 2021 and in force since 1 May 2022, is overseen by the National Human Rights Commission (Article 24) and the state body for digital development and communication (Article 25), now the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Communications. Article 14 bars sending personal data to foreign persons without a legal basis, a treaty or the person’s consent, and Article 29 bars passing acquired data to others. Collect prices and counts without names or phone numbers.

The Cyber Security Law has the same dates, and its Article 24 sends violators to the Criminal Code or the Law on Violations; GRATA reports that Chapter 26 of the Criminal Code (2015) was amended to match it. The English copies of both laws that we read do not mention proxies or VPNs. CRC says that on a decision of a court, the police, the Intellectual Property Office or the anti-monopoly agency it restricts access from Mongolia to a domain or lists it as a violating domain. Reaching such domains is not a supported use, and neither are gambling sites.

Mongolia proxy questions

A Mongolia proxy carries your requests through a Mongolian home or phone line, and local sites reply as they would to a visitor there. Use a Mongolian IP to read Unegui listings, compare tögrög prices on Nomin and follow google.mn rankings.

5K+ residential IPs in the pool, October 2026; the number moves as homes connect and disconnect. There is no separate count for mobile IPs. Mongolian mobile exits run on Mobicom, Unitel, Skytel, G-Mobile and ONDO where the pool has them, and the order page shows availability.

Targeting on this page is by country, -cc-mn. The dashboard generator shows which aimags and towns are on offer, where available. To pick exits outside the capital, test the region field as the Python tab does, and confirm a town in our IP checker before you rely on it.

Homes and phones on the networks Mongolians use: Univision (Unitel Group), Mobicom and Skymedia (Skytel), then Mobinet, ONDO, G-Mobile, Mongolia Telecom, Kewiko and NBC. Network keys exist for US, UK and German logins only, so a Mongolian login cannot pick one; the ASN in a lookup shows it.

Those are the GeoNames spellings of Ulaanbaatar, Darkhan and Sainshand. ipinfo prints “Ulan Bator” as the city and “Ulaanbaatar” as the region for the same address. Map the names before you filter, as the Python tab does.

Residential and mobile are the options for Mongolia today; the order page lists the countries with static IPs. Rotating residential exits suit listings, prices and search results. Mobile costs $0.50 more per GB and suits app checks; Android ran 58.69% of Mongolian mobile traffic and iOS 41.29% in October 2026.

Order on the site with the prices on our pricing page: residential traffic from $3.49 per GB down to $1.69 at the top tier, mobile from $3.99 to $2.19, with no expiry on traffic. ISP IPs at $4.00 and datacenter IPs at $2.00, per IP per month, are sold in the countries the order page lists.

The English copies of the Personal Data Protection Law and the Cyber Security Law that we read say nothing about proxies or VPNs. Their general rules still apply, such as the consent and transfer limits for personal data. We did not read the articles of the Criminal Code. Not legal advice.

A free proxy’s operator is usually unknown and can read and change your traffic. Before you trust one, compare its lookup with the networks above: a Mongolian line shows country MN and an ASN such as AS17882, AS55805 or AS10219, and a rented server shows a hosting firm.

Use host gate.aeonproxy.com, port 7000 and username ap_a1b2c3-cc-mn with your password, in any browser extension, app or HTTP client that takes an HTTP proxy. Append -sid-uln01-time-7200 to the username to stay on one exit for two hours. SOCKS5 is in the docs, and the pricing page has the free trial’s current terms.

Five: Mobicom, Unitel, Skytel, G-Mobile and ONDO, which received its licence in 2021. Mobicom led with 38.0% of subscriptions in 2022, and it was still first at the end of June 2025.
