French-language search, ariary tariffs and job boards

Search

Google nearly everywhere, Bing on some desktops

Google answered 96.42% of Malagasy searches in October 2026 and 99.31% of those made on phones; Bing reached 7.24% on desktops (StatCounter). Rank checks for French pages pair gl=mg with hl=fr, and SERP proxies covers tracking on both engines.

Sites

Four Malagasy sites in the top 100

Global and French names fill Ahrefs’ October 2026 ranking by estimated organic search traffic, among them vidal.fr at 26th and lequipe.fr at 28th. Four Malagasy sites reach the top 100, with orange.mg highest at 48th and portaljob-madagascar.com at 66th.

Tariffs

A 55% fall in mobile internet prices

L’Express de Madagascar reported in October 2026 that mobile internet prices fell by an average of 55% between December 2025 and February 2026. On 3 November 2026 yas.mg advertised fibre from 49 000 Ar a month. Phones gave 56.81% of page views that October, and Android ran 93.62% of mobile traffic.

Jobs

Job ads, some for the French market

JobMada showed 68 open offers on 3 November 2026, filtered by permanent, fixed-term, internship, temporary or freelance contract. Telework for French clients appears among them, such as a three-week B2B telemarketing assignment.

Coverage

Antananarivo, Toamasina, Mahajanga and the largest Malagasy towns

The 2018 census counted 25,674,196 people, 19.25% of them in urban communes, and Analamanga, the region around the capital, held 14.1%. A login fixes the country with -cc-mg; for the regions and towns on offer, see the dashboard generator.

Population: INSTAT, RGPH-3, urban communes such as Antananarivo Renivohitra and Toamasina I, published December 2020. Where available, exits come from homes and phones in towns such as Antananarivo, Toamasina, Mahajanga, Antsirabe, Toliara, Sambava, Antsiranana and Taolagnaro. Two geolocation databases can give one address different towns, so look an exit up in our IP checker if the place matters.

Networks

Yas, Orange and Airtel, with Gulfsat behind them

APNIC Labs estimates that 65.26% of Malagasy internet users are on AS37054, the network of Yas, which traded as Telma until November 2024. Orange follows with 31.72%, Airtel with 9.35% and Gulfsat with 2.44%. All four read 0.11% or lower for IPv6, so an exit on them is almost always IPv4.

Users: APNIC Labs, 1 November 2026, 60-day window; each share is a separate estimate, so the full table adds up to 127.29%. IPv6: APNIC’s per-network table to 2 November 2026, when the country read 6.20%. The Starlink satellite network (18.30%), Cloudflare and Datacamp are left out. We could not open the regulator’s market data, and trade reports disagree on shares of mobile lines, so this table holds user estimates only. ISP and carrier keys exist for the US, the UK and Germany; a Malagasy login cannot choose a network, and the lookup’s ASN names the one you got.

For developers

Reading the operator behind a Malagasy exit

Each try opens a 30-minute session with -cc-mg, confirms the country, reads the operator from the ASN and skips any network outside the four in the table. Telecom Malagasy prints as Yas, and a few town spellings are mapped to one form.

import requests, uuid
GATE = "gate.aeonproxy.com:7000"
# Country key only. Lookups show Yas under its registry name, Telecom Malagasy,
# and town spellings differ between lists, so translate both before you filter.
OPERATOR = {"AS37054": "Yas", "AS37037": "Orange", "AS37303": "Airtel", "AS328411": "Gulfsat"}
TOWN = {"Diego Suarez": "Antsiranana", "Fort Dauphin": "Taolagnaro",
        "Tolanaro": "Taolagnaro", "Toliary": "Toliara"}

def malagasy_exit(want=None, tries=12):
    for _ in range(tries):
        sid = uuid.uuid4().hex[:8]
        login = f"ap_a1b2c3-cc-mg-sid-{sid}-time-1800:PASS"
        proxy = f"http://{login}@{GATE}"
        try:
            geo = requests.get("https://ipinfo.io/json", proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy}, timeout=20).json()
        except requests.RequestException:
            continue # no reply: open another session
        if geo.get("country") != "MG":
            continue                            # country first
        operator = OPERATOR.get(geo.get("org", "").split(" ")[0])
        if operator is None or (want and operator != want):
            continue # another network: try again
        geo["town"] = TOWN.get(geo.get("city"), geo.get("city"))
        return proxy, operator, geo # this exit stays for 30 minutes
    return None, None, None

proxy, operator, geo = malagasy_exit("Orange")
if proxy:
    print(geo["ip"], operator, geo["town"], geo.get("region"))

Call malagasy_exit() to accept any of the four. Passing a name, as the last lines do, only retries until that operator turns up, so it can return nothing; a login cannot choose a network, because network keys are limited to US, UK and German logins. -time- runs from 60 to 21600 seconds, and without -sid- every request gets a new exit.

Personal data and cybercrime rules in Madagascar

Law No. 2014-038 protects personal data. It was adopted on 16 December 2014 and published in the Official Gazette on 9 June 2015, and provides for a regulator, the Commission Malagasy sur l’Informatique et des Libertés (CMIL), set up by a decree of 6 December 2023. DLA Piper’s overview of 4 February 2025 says CMIL will not be fully operational until all its members are appointed. Sellers’ names and numbers in classified ads should stay out of what you store.

We Are Tech Africa reported on 2 September 2026 that Law No. 2014-006, adopted in June 2014, makes fraudulent access to information systems and attacks on data offences, and that a new cybercrime bill, No. 042/2026, went to the National Assembly on 28 August 2026. We could not open that law’s text or the telecom statute. No rule that registers, licenses or bans proxy or VPN use appeared in the texts and summaries we did read, which does not prove that none exists. We do not support betting sites.

Not legal advice. Court decisions on scraping from 2022 to 2026 are in our guide to the cases.

Madagascar proxy questions

A Madagascar proxy sends your requests out through a home or phone connection on a network such as Yas, Orange or Airtel. With a Malagasy IP address, sites answer as they would a local visitor. It suits tariff pages in ariary, job ads on JobMada, classifieds on annonces.mg and Google results with gl=mg.

2K+ residential IPs in the pool, October 2026, and the total shifts as household connections go online and offline. Mobile IPs have no count of their own. Malagasy mobile exits run on Yas, Orange and Airtel where the pool has them, and the order page shows availability.

Logins on this page select the whole country with -cc-mg. The dashboard generator shows any regions and towns on offer, where available. Town data varies between geolocation databases, so check the exit in our IP checker when the place matters to the job.

Malagasy homes and phones on Yas (AS37054), Orange (AS37037), Airtel (AS37303) and Gulfsat (AS328411). A login cannot pick one, since ISP and carrier keys cover US, UK and German logins only. The ASN in a lookup tells you which network you have.

Those three are the operators the market reports name, and mobile exits use them where the pool has them. Look at the order page for Malagasy availability when you buy. Mobile costs $0.50 per GB more than residential at every tier.

Yes. L’Express de Madagascar reported that the change on 26 November 2024 covered the name, colours and slogan. A lookup may show Telecom Malagasy, the registered name of AS37054, and PeeringDB still lists TELMA.

For Madagascar you can buy residential or mobile; the order page lists the countries where static ISP and datacenter IPs are on sale. Tariffs, classifieds and search results suit rotating residential exits, while app checks and pages built for phones suit mobile.

Nothing we read requires a licence for proxies or VPNs or bans them, but we could not open the telecom statute, so a rule may exist there. Law 2014-006 covers fraudulent access to information systems and Law 2014-038 covers personal data; a new cybercrime bill went to the National Assembly in August 2026. Not legal advice.

A free proxy hands your traffic to an operator you cannot identify, who can log or alter what passes through, logins included. Before trusting one, check its ASN. AS37054, AS37037 or AS37303 with country MG is a local line; a hosting company’s name is a rented server.

Enter gate.aeonproxy.com and port 7000 as the HTTP proxy in your extension, app or script, then ap_a1b2c3-cc-mg as the username and your password. Append -sid-tana01-time-10800 to hold an exit for three hours. SOCKS5 is in the docs, and the pricing page has the free trial’s current terms.

On the pricing page. Residential traffic costs $3.49 per GB on the smallest orders and $1.69 on the largest; mobile costs $3.99 to $2.19. ISP IPs at $4.00 and datacenter IPs at $2.00 per IP per month are for the countries on the order page.
