Vacancies and local business reporting

Eswatini Jobs filters ads by Mbabane, Manzini, Matsapha, Big Bend and other places. The Times of Eswatini prints business news in emalangeni, such as “FNB invests E5.4m”, and the Eswatini Observer has a Business section.

Search

Bing has a fifth of desktop searches

Google answered 96.06% of searches in October 2026 and 98.99% on phones, according to StatCounter. Bing reached 19.3% on desktops, so track both there. See SERP proxies.

Coverage

Mbabane, Manzini, Nhlangano and other Swazi towns

The 2017 census counted 1,093,238 people, and ESCCOM’s country profile puts 76% of the population in rural areas. Regions: Manzini 355,945, Hhohho 320,651, Lubombo 212,531 and Shiselweni 204,111. Census figures: Central Statistical Office, as tabulated by citypopulation.de. ESCCOM’s sector report prints the office’s 2024 population estimate, 1,217,041. Smaller places such as Hlatikulu can appear too, where available. Towns this size may have few exits or none at a given hour, and geolocation databases can name a different one, so open the exit in our IP checker before you rely on its town.

Networks

MTN and Eswatini Mobile, then EPTC and Jenny Internet

APNIC Labs places 87.92% of Swazi users on the two mobile operators, MTN and Eswatini Mobile. EPTC, the public enterprise behind Eswatini Telecom, leads fixed broadband with 29% of subscriptions. Home and phone exits come from people on these networks.

IPv6: APNIC, to 3 November 2026, when 2.94% of users were capable against 4.25% across Southern Africa. Fixed: ESCCOM Annual Report 2026, Figure 5. Satellite (Starlink, 5.44% of users and 7% of fixed subscriptions) and Cloudflare are left out. Only US, UK and German logins have network keys; a lookup’s ASN tells you the rest.

Home lines

Swazi fixed broadband by technology

ESCCOM counted 36,703 fixed subscriptions in 2025/26, against 1,693,147 active mobile ones. Most fixed lines are radio links, and the two mobile operators sell them as “Home Internet” and “Fixed Wireless”, so AS327765 or AS328169 in a lookup does not separate a home router from a phone.

For developers

Check for SZ first, then label the network

A session on -cc-sz stays for 30 minutes. The script refuses any lookup that does not read SZ, gives the network its current brand and keeps a price’s symbol with its amount.

import re, requests, uuid
GATE = "gate.aeonproxy.com:7000"
# Country key only. Lookups still print the old name ("Swazi MTN", "SWAZILAND PTC"),
# so accept the exit on its country code, SZ, and give the network its current brand.
BRAND = {"AS327765": "MTN", "AS328169": "Eswatini Mobile", "AS19711": "EPTC",
         "AS327750": "Jenny Internet", "AS328628": "Wanderport", "AS32398": "Real Image"}

def swazi_exit(tries=10):
    for _ in range(tries):
        login = f"ap_a1b2c3-cc-sz-sid-{uuid.uuid4().hex[:8]}-time-1800"
        proxy = f"http://{login}:PASS@{GATE}"
        try:
            geo = requests.get("https://ipinfo.io/json", proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy}, timeout=15).json()
        except requests.RequestException:
            continue # timed out: next session
        if geo.get("country") == "SZ":
            asn = geo.get("org", "").split(" ")[0]
            return proxy, geo.get("city"), BRAND.get(asn, geo.get("org"))
    return None, None, None # none found in this run

def price_tag(text):
    # "E 540,000" and "R 2,293,811": store the symbol beside the amount
    found = re.search(r"\b(E|R)\s?([\d,]+)", text)
    return (found.group(1), int(found.group(2).replace(",", ""))) if found else None

proxy, town, network = swazi_exit()
if proxy:
    print(town, network, price_tag("E 540,000"), price_tag("R 2,293,811"))

Anything from 60 to 21600 seconds works in -time-; remove -sid- and the exit changes on each request.

A Swazi quirk

Emalangeni and rand on the same price tag

The Central Bank of Eswatini says the rand is legal tender in the country and is pegged 1:1 to the lilangeni, a link dating from 1974. Prices can appear in either: E for emalangeni, the plural of lilangeni, or R for rand. RE/MAX uses E throughout its Swaziland section, and Pam Golding tags in rand.

The two figures do not always agree on one page. On 5 November 2026 Pam Golding described a Manzini house with “Asking Price: E2,300,000.00” and tagged it R 2,293,811 plus VAT. A Nhlangano home went from E1,320,000 to R 1,316,448, and a plot from E450,000 to R 448,789. Each tag runs 0.27% under the text, which fits the SZL rate of 1.002698 in the page’s own data.

A price series should keep the symbol and the VAT wording in their own columns, and record which part of the page each number came from.

Eswatini’s 2022 data, cybercrime and transactions acts

The Data Protection Act 2022 (Act 5 of 2022) names the Eswatini Communications Commission as regulator. Section 3 reaches controllers based elsewhere if they use means in Eswatini to forward personal information, and section 6 allows an administrative fine of up to E5,000,000 or 2% of annual turnover. Leave names and phone numbers out of what you store.

Section 3 of the Computer Crime and Cybercrime Act 2022 (Act 6 of 2022) punishes intentional access without lawful excuse with up to E300,000, three years in prison, or both, and section 2 defines access for that section as logging into a computer system. Section 23 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 2022 (Act 3 of 2022) bars anyone from providing cryptography services until entered on a register, including services used by a resident of Eswatini. That binds providers, and whether a given encrypted tunnel counts is a question for ESCCOM; offering a tunnel or VPN service to people in Eswatini through our exits is not a supported use. The six English texts we read name no VPN and use “proxy” once, for registering a SIM card on someone’s behalf.

Not legal advice. For scraping cases in other countries, see our 2022 to 2026 case review.

Eswatini proxy questions

A site sees a Swazi IP address, because your traffic goes out on a home or mobile line in Eswatini. People use one to read property tags on RE/MAX and Pam Golding or to check gl=sz search results.

Yes. The UN records the change of name from Swaziland to Eswatini with effect from 19 April 2018. StatCounter and APNIC still list Swaziland, networks are registered as SWAZILAND PTC or Swazi MTN, and the country code stays SZ, so the key is -cc-sz.

No per-country count is published for Eswatini, so we quote none. Home connections are in the pool, mobile lines run on the two operators where the pool has them, and the order page shows availability before you pay.

A login here chooses the country and nothing narrower. Look in the dashboard generator for regions and towns, where available, and check the place in our IP checker before relying on it, since databases can differ at town level.

Households and phones on MTN, Eswatini Mobile, EPTC and Jenny Internet, which APNIC credits with most users. A home exit may show a mobile operator’s name, because both operators sell fixed wireless lines. You cannot pick a network at login: such keys cover only the US, the UK and Germany.

ESCCOM names two mobile network operators, MTN Eswatini and Eswatini Mobile, and counts 1,693,147 active subscriptions between them in 2025/26, with no split by operator. Mobile exits use these two where the pool has them, and the order page shows availability.

Eswatini is sold as those two only; the order page names the countries with static IPs. Listings, job ads and search suit the cheaper residential. Pages built for phones, which made 73.54% of Swazi page views in October 2026, call for mobile at $0.50 more per GB.

Residential runs from $3.49 per GB on the smallest order down to $1.69 at the largest, and mobile from $3.99 to $2.19. Every tier, and the current free trial terms, are on the pricing page.

The acts we read do not license or ban proxy or VPN users. Section 3 of the Cybercrime Act applies to access without lawful excuse, the Data Protection Act to personal details, and section 23 of the 2022 Transactions Act to anyone providing cryptography services, so offering an encrypted tunnel to people in Eswatini through our exits is not supported. Not legal advice.

The operator is usually a stranger who can read or alter what passes through, logins included. Look the address up first. AS327765, AS328169 or AS19711 with country SZ points to a local line; a hosting company’s name in that field points to a rented server.

Set host gate.aeonproxy.com, port 7000, username ap_a1b2c3-cc-sz and your password in a browser extension, app or HTTP client. With -sid-mbb01-time-3600 on the end of the username you keep one exit for an hour. The docs cover SOCKS5.
