Why Mozambique

Portuguese results from two countries, prices in meticais and dollars

Search results

Portuguese from Brazil and from Portugal

Ahrefs’ October 2026 list of sites in Mozambique, ordered by estimated search traffic, has globo.com 10th, abola.pt 13th, uol.com.br 15th and record.pt 27th. Google’s language values cover both, hl=pt-BR and hl=pt-PT, so a Mozambican rank check can compare the two with gl=mz.

Used cars

Japanese exporters high on the list

beforward.jp is 23rd on the same Ahrefs list and first among vehicle sites, and sbtjapan.com is 72nd. BE FORWARD showed 519,714 cars on 3 November 2026 and has a Portuguese version. SBT Japan puts Mozambique in its country menu and groups prices in US dollar bands.

Devices

Phones first, and Bing on desktops

Phones produced 69.54% of Mozambican page views in October 2026 and Android ran 89.99% of them (StatCounter). Google answered 90.51% of searches and Bing 8.01%, rising to 16.05% on desktops; Petal Search had 1.17% on phones. See SERP proxies.

Coverage

Maputo, Matola, Nampula and the next largest Mozambican cities

The 2017 census gave Mozambique 27,909,798 residents after adjustment, 39.14% of them in Nampula and Zambézia provinces. INE’s projection for 2023 is 32,419,700. A login reaches the whole country through -cc-mz, and the dashboard generator lists whichever provinces and cities are on offer.

Population: INE, 2017 census, city table as printed by citypopulation.de, not adjusted for undercount. Exits, where available, come from cities on this list such as Maputo, Beira, Nampula, Quelimane, Pemba, Tete, Chimoio and Matola. MaxMind’s GeoLite files 94.03% of Vodacom’s announced addresses under Maputo, so a town label says little about where a phone is. Open an exit in our IP checker before you rely on its town.

Networks

Movitel, Vodacom and Tmcel, with TVCabo on fixed lines

APNIC Labs estimates that Movitel reaches 59.64% of Mozambican internet users, Vodacom 29.78% and Tmcel 14.19%. TVCabo, which the regulator calls the leader in fixed broadband and a subsidiary of the Tmcel group, has 6.62%.

Users: APNIC Labs, 1 November 2026, 60-day window; each share is a separate estimate, so the column runs past 100%. IPv6: APNIC’s table to 2 November 2026, when 4.66% of users in the country were capable, against 1.69% a year earlier, nearly all of them on a satellite network. Mobile subscribers: INCM, Communications Regulation Report 2024. Satellite, academic and content-delivery networks are left out. ISP and carrier keys exist only for the US, the UK and Germany, so a Mozambican login cannot pick a network; read the ASN in a lookup.

Mobile market

Vodacom leads on subscribers, Movitel on data

In INCM’s figures for 2024 Vodacom had the most active subscribers, while Movitel carried 58.57% of mobile data traffic against Vodacom’s 41.42%, which fits APNIC’s user estimate.

Vodacom8,589,615 active subscribers; 41.42% of mobile data traffic50.17%
Movitel7,156,826 active subscribers; 58.57% of mobile data traffic41.8%
Tmcel1,373,456 active subscribers; 0.01% of mobile data traffic8.02%

RIPEstat counts 131,072 announced IPv4 addresses on Movitel’s AS37342 against APNIC’s 4,702,042 estimated users, about 36 users per address; Vodacom comes to about 35, Tmcel about 39 and TVCabo about 7, so many mobile customers share one public address.

For developers

One Mozambican exit, and a parser for both price formats

One session on -cc-mz lasts 30 minutes, and the loop throws away any whose lookup country is not MZ. metical() turns 62.000,00 MT and 39,100.00 MT into ordinary numbers.

import re, requests, uuid
GATE = "gate.aeonproxy.com:7000"

def mozambican_exit(tries=8):

            return proxy, geo # held for 30 minutes
    return None, None

def metical(price):
    # "62.000,00 MT" and "39,100.00 MT": the last two digits are always the cents
    digits = re.sub(r"[^\d.,]", "", price)
    return float(re.sub(r"[.,]", "", digits[:-3]) + "." + digits[-2:])

proxy, geo = mozambican_exit()
if proxy:
    print(geo["ip"], geo.get("city"), geo["network"], metical("33,706.90 MT"))

Sessions accept 60 to 21600 seconds in -time-. Take -sid- out and every request rotates. metical() assumes two decimals, as both shops print them.

Cyber laws of 2026 and personal data in Mozambique

Mozambique has no general data-protection act yet, and a bill is before the Assembly of the Republic (AIM, 25 August 2026). Article 71 of the Constitution bars access to databases to find out other people’s personal data unless a law or a court order allows it, and the Electronic Transactions Law (Law 3/2017) fines breaches of its data duties at 30 to 90 public-administration minimum wages. Ads carry names and phone numbers; leave those out of what you store.

Two laws published on 1 July 2026 took effect 90 days later. Article 4 of Law 14/2026 on cyber crimes sets one to two years in prison and a fine for entering someone else’s device without permission to obtain non-public or private data. Under articles 18 and 19 of Law 13/2026 on cybersecurity, an intermediary provider, meaning a public or private body that sends, receives or stores data for another person or provides network access, must register with the national authority and register its users. INCM’s 2024 report also lists VPNs among services under a Class B telecoms licence. These duties fall on those who supply such services, and neither law names proxies or VPNs; we found no guidance on whether a service run from abroad counts. Running or reselling a proxy or VPN service in Mozambique through AeonProxy is not supported.

Trade press reports that Decree 61/2026 applies from 20 November 2026 and lets the authorities order unlicensed online gambling sites blocked. Use on gambling sites is not supported.

Mozambique proxy questions

A Mozambique proxy gives your requests a Mozambican IP address on a network such as Movitel, Vodacom or Tmcel, and sites answer as they would a local visitor. Use one to read job ads and metical prices in Portuguese, see gl=mz search results or check your own pages and ads from inside the country.

15K+ residential IPs in the pool, October 2026. The number moves as households connect and drop off. Mobile IPs have no count of their own: where the pool has them, mobile exits run on Movitel, Vodacom and Tmcel, and the order page shows availability.

The login sets the country, -cc-mz. The dashboard generator shows which provinces and cities are on offer, and city placement is where available. Confirm the town in our IP checker, since databases disagree at that level.

Homes and phones on the networks people in Mozambique use: Movitel, Vodacom and Tmcel, then TVCabo’s fixed lines and small ISPs such as Voiptech, Teledata, Moztel and Webmasters. The login cannot choose among them, because network keys are limited to the US, the UK and Germany. A lookup’s ASN tells you which one you have.

On Movitel, Vodacom and Tmcel, where the pool has them. Vodacom had the most active subscribers in 2024 (50.17%), and Movitel carried the most mobile data (58.57%) and has the largest share of users in APNIC’s estimate (59.64%). AS37342 means Movitel, AS37223 Vodacom and AS30619 Tmcel.

Residential and mobile are the options for this country, and the order page lists the countries with static IPs. Rotating residential traffic suits job ads and shop prices. Mobile costs $0.50 more per GB and fits checks of apps and phone pages. Your own accounts, within each platform’s rules, can sit on a sticky session of up to 6 hours.

Order from the dashboard after you sign up; the pricing page shows every tier. Residential traffic costs $3.49 per GB at the smallest size and $1.69 at 1,000 GB or more, and mobile goes from $3.99 to $2.19. ISP and datacenter IPs are $4.00 and $2.00 per IP per month in the countries the order page lists. A free trial exists; its current terms are on the pricing page.

No Mozambican text we read bans proxies or VPNs for the people using them. Law 13/2026 puts registration duties on those who provide network access, and INCM’s 2024 report places VPN services under a Class B licence, so running or reselling such a service through AeonProxy is not supported. Article 4 of Law 14/2026 punishes entering other people’s devices without permission. Not legal advice.

Whoever runs a free proxy can read and keep what passes through it, logins included, and you have no way to learn who that is. Look the address up before you trust it. AS37342, AS37223, AS30619 or AS25139 with country MZ points to a Mozambican line; a hosting company’s name in that field points to a rented server.

Enter gate.aeonproxy.com and port 7000 as the HTTP proxy in a browser extension, an app or your HTTP client, with username ap_a1b2c3-cc-mz and your password. For a two-hour hold on one exit, end the username with -sid-mpm01-time-7200. SOCKS5 and other clients are in the docs.

As 62,000 meticais. Mozambican shops also print 39,100.00 MT, and in both formats the last two digits are cents. “+ IVA” after a price means tax is extra. The Python tab converts either format to a number.
