Why Croatia

Classifieds, retail catalogues and holiday bookings in Croatia

Croatian news portals take seven of the top ten places in Similarweb’s September 2026 ranking, with index.hr second after google.com. Njuškalo, the classifieds site, is 14th overall and first in e-commerce, ahead of katalozi.net (34th) and pevex.hr (39th); booking.com is 45th and first in travel.

Croatia adopted the euro on 1 January 2023 at a fixed €1 = 7.53450 kuna (European Commission). On 31 October 2026 the recommended listings on Njuškalo and the newest property ads on Plavi oglasnik carried euro prices, from a building plot in Zagreb’s Trnje at €386,400 to a house on Šestinski vrh at €950,000.

Phones produced 51.41% of Croatian page views in September 2026 and computers 46.81%; computers had led in every month from October 2025 to August 2026 (StatCounter). Android ran 71.89% of mobile traffic. Google handled 94.10% of searches that month and Bing 3.78%, or 8.76% on desktops, so desktop rank checks cover both engines; the SERP proxies page has the setup.

Zagreb, Split, Rijeka and the Croatian counties

The 2021 census counted 3,871,833 people in Croatia, one in five of them in the City of Zagreb. Croatian logins set the country with -cc-hr, and the dashboard generator lists counties and cities where they are on offer.

Slavonski Brod (49,891), Karlovac (49,377) and Šibenik (42,599) are among the smaller towns exits come from, where available, as are Makarska, Trogir and Umag on the coast. Check an exit’s town in our IP checker before relying on it: geolocation databases do not always agree on Croatian towns.

Networks

HT, A1 and Telemach, each on more than one ASN

APNIC Labs credits Hrvatski Telekom’s AS5391 with 39.55% of Croatian internet users. Counting every ASN registered to each group, HT reaches 43.44%, A1 30.15% and Telemach 16.25%, which makes 89.84% for the three. Regional ISPs such as Pro-Ping and Magic Net each stay under 1%.

Users: APNIC Labs, 29 October 2026; its 114 Croatian rows add up to 95.01%. IPv6: APNIC, to 30 October 2026, when 6.22% of Croatian users were IPv6-capable. Starlink (0.86%), the academic network CARNet (0.77%) and hosting networks are left out. HAKOM’s 2025 report names three mobile networks, HT, A1 and Telemach, and no commercial virtual operator. Telling the groups apart takes the ASN, as network keys are offered for US, UK and German logins only.

For developers

Pick a Croatian exit by group: HT, A1 or Telemach

Here the login asks for -cc-hr with a 30-minute session. The script drops exits that a lookup places outside Croatia, maps the ASN in the org field to HT, A1 or Telemach, and keeps the first exit of the group you ask for.

import requests, uuid

A Croatian quirk

Tourist nights by month in 2025

Commercial accommodation recorded 94.8 million tourist nights in 2025, and July and August brought 51.7 million of them (DZS). Plan travel and rental checks around that curve: a November run falls in a month with 932 thousand nights, an August run in one with 26.7 million.

June14.3 million nights, 14.5% more than in June 202415.1%
July25.0 million nights, 93.0% of them by foreign guests26.4%
August26.7 million nights, 1.7% fewer than in August 202428.2%
September11.9 million nights12.6%
November932 thousand nights, 40.8% of them by Croatian guests1%

DZS first releases for each month and its annual release of 26 February 2026; each share is of the year’s 94.8 million nights. Germans made 24.6% of foreign tourist nights in 2025 and Slovenians 9.4%.

Croatian rules on personal data, computer access and online gambling

Croatia’s NN 42/18, the Act on the Implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation, has applied the GDPR since 25 May 2018. Its supervisor, the Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP), is an independent state body that answers to the Croatian Parliament. Names and phone numbers in public Njuškalo ads count as personal data under these rules.

No Croatian text we read registers, licenses or bans proxy or VPN use. Article 266 of the Criminal Code makes unauthorised access to a computer system or computer data punishable by up to two years in prison, and up to three for the systems of state bodies. Under article 44(3) of the General Tax Act, the Tax Administration orders unlicensed online gambling sites to stop and publishes their addresses, which are blocked within 15 days; reaching them through AeonProxy is not supported.

Croatia proxy questions

A Croatian home or mobile connection carries your requests, so a site answers as it would a visitor in Croatia. You need one for euro prices and listings on Njuškalo and Plavi oglasnik, holiday rates on booking sites and google.hr results, or to see your own Croatian pages as people in Croatia see them.

20K+ residential IPs in the pool, October 2026. Croatian homes join and leave all the time, so expect the number to move. We publish no mobile count; mobile exits run on HT, A1 and Telemach phones where the pool has them, and the order page shows what is available today.

The logins on this page carry only the country key, -cc-hr. The dashboard generator lists the Croatian counties and cities on offer, where available. Geolocation databases name Croatian towns differently, so check an exit’s town in our IP checker if it matters.

Three groups reach 89.84% of Croatian internet users in APNIC’s figures: Hrvatski Telekom with Iskon, A1, and Telemach with Optima. Exits come from homes and phones on those networks and on regional ISPs such as Pro-Ping, Magic Net, 4Tel and Terrakom. A Croatian login cannot pick one, since network keys exist for US, UK and German logins only; the ASN in a lookup tells you which group you landed on.

A1 Hrvatska holds at least six, registered as VIPNET-AS (AS12810), A1HR (AS15994), DCM-AS (AS31012), METRONET-AS, AMISHR and VODATEL-AS. Hrvatski Telekom also holds Iskon’s AS13046, and Telemach holds AS34594, which PeeringDB lists as Optima telekom. Group them as the Python tab does before you count exits by operator.

For accounts of your own, kept within each platform’s rules, take an ISP proxy: one static Croatian address for the whole rental, with stock shown on the order page. Listings, catalogue prices and Google results run on rotating residential exits. Mobile costs $0.50 more per GB and is for app tests and mobile layouts; Android carried 71.89% of Croatian mobile traffic in September 2026.

Nothing in the Croatian texts we read requires a licence or registration for proxy or VPN use, and none bans it. The usual laws apply to what you do through one: unauthorised access to a computer system is a crime under article 266 of the Criminal Code, the GDPR and NN 42/18 cover personal data you collect, and the tax authority blocks unlicensed gambling sites; reaching them through AeonProxy is not supported. Not legal advice.

Look one up before you use it. A Croatian home line shows a Croatian ISP such as AS5391, AS12810 or AS205714 as its network, and a data-centre name there means a server. Whoever runs a free proxy can also read and keep everything that passes through it, logins included, and you have no way to check who that is.

Any HTTP-capable browser extension, app or client needs four values: host gate.aeonproxy.com, port 7000, user ap_a1b2c3-cc-hr and your password. With -sid-zg01-time-7200 added to the user name you keep one exit for two hours. SOCKS5 is set up as described in the docs, and the pricing page lists what the free trial currently includes.

In euros. Croatia adopted the euro on 1 January 2023 at €1 = 7.53450 kuna, and the euro law (NN 57/2022) required prices in both currencies until 12 months after that day, so older price series can hold kuna figures. Njuškalo and Plavi oglasnik list in euros today; convert kuna at the fixed rate before you compare.

June to September brought 77.9 million of the 94.8 million tourist nights in commercial accommodation in 2025, or 82.2%, and August alone 26.7 million (DZS). For stays, rentals and travel prices, repeat the same query in several months and store the date with each result.
