Cars, villas and flats on CoinAfrique

CoinAfrique’s Benin edition files its ads under 26 towns, from Cotonou and Parakou to Kandi and Natitingou. On 3 November 2026 its home page showed a 2012 Honda Accord at 1,450,000 CFA, a six-room villa at 25,000,000 CFA and a four-room flat to rent at 250,000 CFA.

Prices

A franc fixed to the euro

Beninese prices are in West African CFA francs (XOF). BCEAO’s table for 2 November 2026 has the euro at 655.957 francs, the same both ways, and the dollar at 582.50 to 589.50.

Phones ahead again after a summer dip

Phones produced 61.6% of Beninese page views in October 2026, after falling to 41.43% in August, and Android ran 82.15% of them. Google answered 95.46% of searches. Bing took 10.89% on desktops and 0.60% on phones (StatCounter), so anyone tracking desktop rankings should add it; SERP proxies has the details.

Coverage

Cotonou, Porto-Novo, Parakou and the twelve departments

The 2013 census counted 10,008,749 residents; a fifth census was launched in March 2023, and we found no published results. Cotonou fills the Littoral department; Porto-Novo, the capital, is in Ouémé. Targeting works by country, -cc-bj, and the dashboard generator shows the departments and towns on offer.

Networks

Three mobile operators, then fibre from CanalBox and Isocel

APNIC Labs places 50.63% of Beninese internet users on the network of SBIN, the state company behind Celtiis, 43.38% on MTN’s and 21.80% on Moov Africa’s. CanalBox (6.39%) and Isocel (1.45%) sell fibre to homes, and each smaller ISP stays under 1%.

Users: APNIC Labs, report dated 1 November 2026. Its column adds up to 126.61% across 18 networks, since each share is a separate estimate. IPv6: APNIC’s Benin table to 2 November 2026. Starlink, Cloudflare, Datacamp, Akamai and the state digital agency’s network are left out. On a Beninese exit the ASN names the network, because ISP and carrier keys exist only for the US, the UK and Germany.

For developers

Spacetel is MTN, Etisalat is Moov Africa: naming an exit in code

A 30-minute session holds one Beninese exit (-cc-bj). The script drops any address whose lookup country is not BJ, then turns the ASN into the brand people in Benin know.

import requests, uuid
GATE = "gate.aeonproxy.com:7000"
# Country key only. Lookups print registry names: Spacetel is MTN, Etisalat is Moov Africa,
# GVA Cote d'Ivoire is CanalBox. AS36924 spans several countries, so test the country first.
BRAND = {"AS328228": "Celtiis", "AS28683": "SBIN", "AS37424": "MTN",
         "AS37136": "Moov Africa", "AS36924": "CanalBox", "AS37090": "Isocel"}

def benin_exit(brand=None, tries=12):
    for _ in range(tries):
        sid = uuid.uuid4().hex[:8]
        proxy = f"http://ap_a1b2c3-cc-bj-sid-{sid}-time-1800:PASS@{GATE}"
        try:
            geo = requests.get("https://ipinfo.io/json", proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy}, timeout=20).json()
        except requests.RequestException:
            continue # no reply: open another session
        if geo.get("country") != "BJ":
            continue # outside Benin: drop it
        name = BRAND.get(geo.get("org", "").split(" ")[0], geo.get("org"))
        if brand in (None, name):
            return proxy, geo, name # one address for 30 minutes
    return None, None, None

proxy, geo, name = benin_exit("Celtiis")
if proxy:
    print(geo["ip"], geo.get("city"), geo.get("region"), name)

CanalBox lists ten countries on its site and AS36924 is registered as GVA Cote d’Ivoire, so the country test comes before the brand test.

A Beninese quirk

The third operator that took a third of the lines

After Globacom left and Libercom was dissolved, MTN and Moov Africa were Benin’s only mobile networks until October 2022. Market data from those years misses the network APNIC now puts first by users.

Celtiis starts

State-owned SBIN, managed by Senegal’s Sonatel at launch, opens as the third operator, with number portability and fibre plans from the first day.

4.12% of the market

ARCEP’s observatory credits it with 599,727 subscribers, as AITN reported on 30 May 2023.

22.34% of lines

4,178,572 of 18,704,059 lines. MTN then had 8,587,373 and Moov Africa 5,938,114.

33.54% of lines

6,376,335 lines, while MTN stood at 7,337,108 and Moov Africa at 5,296,538.

Data protection, computer access and encryption rules in Benin

Benin’s digital code (Code du numérique, Law 2017-20 of 20 April 2018, amended by Law 2020-35 of 6 January 2021) holds the data rules in Book V. They bind private companies as well as the state (Article 380), and call for fair collection for stated purposes (Article 383) with consent as the general basis (Article 389). The Autorité de Protection des Données Personnelles (APDP) supervises them (Article 462). A seller’s name or number on a public ad still relates to an identifiable person, so collect prices and counts and drop those.

Article 507 punishes entering or staying in a computer system intentionally and without right with one to five years in prison and a fine of 500,000 to 1,000,000 CFA francs, or either. Where security measures are breached, it rises to 10 to 20 years and up to 500,000,000 francs. The code does not name proxies or VPNs, and we found no decree applying its cryptology chapter to them. That chapter covers encryption: Article 619 leaves tools that provide confidentiality free to use only if they rely on conventions managed by an approved provider, and Article 620 requires prior declaration to supply or import them. Use outside those rules is not supported on AeonProxy, and neither are gambling sites.

Not legal advice. Rulings on scraping from 2022 to 2026 are in our court-case guide.

Benin proxy questions

A connection in Benin carries your requests, and Beninese sites answer as they would a local visitor. Use one for CoinAfrique ads, CFA franc plans, google.bj results in French, or your own pages and ads as they look from inside the country.

There are 2K+ residential IPs in the pool, October 2026. No count exists for mobile IPs: phones on MTN, Celtiis and Moov Africa carry the mobile exits where the pool has them, and the order page shows availability.

Logins pick the country, -cc-bj. The dashboard generator shows which departments and towns are on offer. City placement is where available, and databases can name different towns for one address, so look the exit up in our IP checker first.

Homes and phones on the networks most people in Benin use: Celtiis, MTN and Moov Africa, then CanalBox and Isocel fibre and small ISPs such as OTI Telecom. You cannot choose one in the login, since ISP and carrier keys cover the US, the UK and Germany only. A lookup’s ASN names it.

Those are registry names: Spacetel Benin SA is MTN, Etisalat Benin is Moov Africa, and GVA Cote d’Ivoire SAS is CanalBox, whose AS36924 also carries addresses that lookups place in Gabon and the DR Congo. Read the country field first.

Those two are the options for Benin; the order page lists the countries with static IPs. Rotating residential exits suit listings, plans and search results. Mobile costs $0.50 more per GB and fits phone-first checks. Keep your own accounts within each platform’s rules.

On the pricing page. Residential traffic costs $3.49 per GB on the smallest order and $1.69 at the top tier, mobile $3.99 to $2.19, and traffic never expires. A free trial exists; that page has its current terms.

No Beninese text we read names proxies or VPNs. Article 507 of the digital code covers access to a system without right, Book V covers personal data, and Articles 619 and 620 set conditions on encryption tools that provide confidentiality. Use that breaks those rules is not supported. This is not legal advice.

Free proxies send your traffic, logins included, through someone you cannot identify, who can store it. A Beninese line looks up as AS328228, AS37424 or AS37136 with country BJ; a data-centre company’s name there means a rented server.

Enter host gate.aeonproxy.com, port 7000, username ap_a1b2c3-cc-bj and your password in an HTTP proxy extension, app or script. To keep one address for two hours, add -sid-coo01-time-7200 to the username. SOCKS5 settings are in the docs.

French is the official language, so pair gl=bj with hl=fr. Local prices appear as CFA, FCFA or F CFA, and XOF is the ISO code. Convert to euros at 655.957, BCEAO’s rate.
