Why Moldova
Classifieds, electronics shops and job boards: what Moldovans open
999.md was the third most visited website in Moldova in September 2026, by Similarweb’s estimate. It is the general classifieds board, with second-hand cars, flats to buy or rent and goods of every kind, in a Romanian version and a Russian one. makler.md, 68th, runs a similar board.
Four electronics shops are among the 61 most visited sites in Moldova: darwin.md 19th, enter.online 32nd, maximum.md 35th and ultra.md 61st. Maximum prices in lei, with monthly instalments such as “510 lei/lună”. Job seekers use rabota.md, 37th, and delucru.md, 104th, whose best-paid list mixes jobs in Chișinău with work abroad, such as in Poland.
Desktop computers produced 55.56% of Moldovan page views in September 2026, and Android had 70.76% of mobile traffic (StatCounter). Google handled 90.66% of searches; SERP proxies explains rank tracking from a local address.

Population: National Bureau of Statistics, 2024 census, final results; town figures are usual residents. The census did not cover the units on the left bank of the Nistru or the municipality of Bender, so they are not in these shares. Lookups name regions as GeoNames does, for example “Chișinău Municipality”, “Bălţi”, “Soroca District” and “Gagauzia”, and some print a village as the city. Geolocation databases disagree about towns, so confirm an exit’s place in our IP checker first.

In APNIC Labs’ estimate Moldtelecom reaches 22.93% of Moldovan internet users and StarNet 14.33%; Orange’s two networks add 19.08% and Moldcell’s 4.70%. ARCOM’s count of fixed connections puts Moldtelecom at 48.7%, StarNet at 22.4% and Orange at 16.0%.

ARCOM counted 3,441,300 active voice SIMs on 30 June 2026, about 145 per 100 inhabitants, 57.6% of them postpaid. Mobile exits in the pool run on these three networks; the order page shows what is available.

The login names the country, -cc-md, and asks for a six-hour session. The script opens up to eight sessions, makes sure each exit reads MD, then compares the lookup’s region with the set you pass in.

Romanian and Russian pages, lei and euro prices
In the 2024 census 15.9% of residents aged three and over said Russian is the language they usually speak. The figure changes a lot by place: 23.5% in Chișinău municipality, 45.0% in Bălți and 47.3% in Gagauzia, where 48.8% usually speak Gagauz. Large Moldovan sites keep a Romanian and a Russian version: 999.md under /ro and /ru, maximum.md under /ro/ and /ru/, makler.md and delucru.md through language links.
A Moldovan exit does not pick the language for you. Set hl=ro or hl=ru on Google and open the matching path on each site, or you will compare a Romanian page in one run with a Russian page in the next. Yandex took 6.54% of Moldovan searches in September 2026, after 18.96% in May, and 10.04% of desktop searches.
Prices come in three currencies. makler.md showed ads at 3 850 EUR, 150 USD and 800 MDL on one page on 31 October 2026, delucru.md lists salaries in dollars, euros and lei, zbor.md quotes fares in euros and maximum.md sells in lei. Keep the currency code with each number.
Moldova’s data protection law and online rules
Law No. 195/2024 on personal data protection has applied since 23 August 2026 and replaces Law 133/2011. It follows the GDPR’s risk-based model, and the National Centre for Personal Data Protection (CNPDCP) supervises it and can impose administrative fines.
Article 259 of the Criminal Code covers illegal access to computer information: access by someone not authorised under a law or a contract, beyond the limits of an authorisation, or without permission from the person who controls the system. No Moldovan rule we found deals with VPN or proxy use. In October 2023 the regulator told providers to block the online sources named in an order of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS), and the Public Services Agency lists 10,454 unauthorised gambling sites and apps (update of 27 October 2026). Reaching blocked sources or gambling sites is not a supported use.

A Moldova proxy routes your traffic through an address on a Moldovan network, and sites treat the request as a visit from Moldova. You need one to read 999.md listings and Maximum prices as a buyer in Chișinău does, or google.md results in Romanian or Russian.

To keep only the capital, filter on the region name in the lookup, as the Python tab does with “Chișinău Municipality”; Bălți reads “Bălţi”. Geolocation databases disagree about towns, so check each exit in our IP checker.
They sit on homes and phones on Moldtelecom, StarNet, Orange Moldova and Moldcell, which together reach 61.04% of Moldovan users in APNIC’s estimate, and on smaller ISPs such as Arax, Click-COM and Flynet. Network keys are offered only in the US, the UK and Germany, so read the ASN: AS8926 is Moldtelecom, AS31252 StarNet, AS25454 and AS31204 Orange, AS43925 Moldcell.
Not by itself. The large Moldovan sites keep both versions, and the one you get depends on the URL, a language switch or a cookie. Put hl=ro or hl=ru on Google searches and use each site’s /ro or /ru path so every run reads the same language.
Both, and sometimes dollars. Shops such as Maximum price in lei, classifieds on 999.md and makler.md let sellers choose MDL, EUR or USD, job ads on delucru.md quote salaries in all three, and flight sites such as zbor.md quote euros.
For 999.md listings, shop prices and search results, use rotating residential exits. Mobile exits on Orange, Moldcell or Moldtelecom are for app tests and phone layouts; start with Android, which had 70.76% of Moldovan mobile traffic in September 2026. Your own accounts, run within each platform’s rules, can sit on an ISP proxy with one static address for the rental; Moldovan stock is listed on the order page.
Moldovan law, in the texts we read, does not ban, license or register proxy or VPN use. Personal data falls under Law No. 195/2024, in force since 23 August 2026, and illegal access to computer information under article 259 of the Criminal Code. Sources on the SIS blocking lists and the gambling sites on the Public Services Agency’s list are not a supported use. Not legal advice.
Free proxies are run by people you cannot identify, who see your traffic and can store it. If you test one, look up its network: Moldtelecom, StarNet, Orange or Moldcell points to a Moldovan line, while names such as AlexHost or Global Layer mean a server. Never enter a password through it.
