Why Luxembourg

Shops across the border, property and cars at home

Shopping

amazon.de first, and no .lu shop in the list

In Ahrefs’ October 2026 ranking by estimated organic search traffic, amazon.de is 8th among all sites in Luxembourg and first of seven in shopping. The other six are mediamarkt.de, idealo.de, shein.com, zalando.de, e.leclerc and leboncoin.fr, and none has a .lu address.

Property

atHome and Immotop

athome.lu, 28th overall, lists homes to buy and rent in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. immotop.lu, 87th, is the only site in Ahrefs’ real estate filter for the country.

Cars

Four vehicle sites in the top 100

mobile.de is 44th, autoscout24.lu 51st, luxauto.lu 63rd and mycar.lu 80th. Luxauto’s home page claimed more than 30,515 ads for vehicles and accessories on 3 November 2026.

Search and devices

More desktops than phones, and iOS ahead of Android

Google took 84.24% of Luxembourg searches in October 2026 and Bing 9.27%, rising to 16.94% on desktops (StatCounter). Desktops produced 52.98% of page views, and iOS had 50.73% of mobile traffic. SERP proxies covers tracking both engines.

Coverage

Luxembourg City, Esch-sur-Alzette and the twelve cantons

STATEC counted 690,959 residents on 1 January 2026. Luxembourg City has 137,678 of them, 19.93%, and the cantons of Luxembourg and Esch together hold 59.49%. A login names the country and nothing finer, -cc-lu; the dashboard generator shows which cantons and towns are on offer.

Population by commune: STATEC, 1 January 2026; shares of the national total. GeoNames, which lookups follow, files places under the canton, so a region of “Luxembourg” can belong to Bertrange or Steinsel, and STATEC’s Esch appears as Esch-sur-Alzette. Esch-sur-Alzette and Remich are among the towns exits can come from, where available. The town a lookup prints depends on the database, so open the exit in our IP checker before you rely on it.

Networks

Five networks hold most Luxembourg users

APNIC Labs places 63.16% of Luxembourg’s internet users on POST’s network and 21.98% on Proximus, which sells under the Tango brand. Eltrona, Luxembourg Online and Visual Online take the five to 97.37%.

Users: APNIC Labs, 1 November 2026, 65 networks adding up to 110.26%. IPv6: APNIC’s table to 2 November 2026. Mobile: ILR’s report of 15 June 2026. Orange’s 15.8% of subscribers and 0.59% of APNIC’s users are different measures. Hosting networks (FranTech, G-Core Labs, HostRoyale), the RESTENA research network and the satellite operators SES and Starlink are left out. Network keys exist for US, UK and German logins only; the ASN in a lookup tells a POST exit from a Tango one.

For developers

One Luxembourg exit, three language headers

One exit on -cc-lu stays for 30 minutes. The script drops any lookup that does not read LU, names the network from its ASN and requests one page under three language headers.

import requests, uuid

Sites decide for themselves whether to follow Accept-Language, so store the language that came back with each page. -time- runs from 60 to 21600 seconds, and without -sid- the exit changes per request. ISP and carrier keys are limited to US, UK and German logins.

A Luxembourg quirk

Language menus, frontier workers and four VAT rates

Language menus change from one Luxembourg site to the next. Luxauto and Mycar offer French, English, German and Portuguese; Jobs.lu has English, Luxembourgish, German and French. RTL uses addresses in place of a menu: rtl.lu is in Luxembourgish, today.rtl.lu in English and infos.rtl.lu in French. Record the language with every price or ad you store.

STATEC counted 322,050 foreign residents on 1 January 2026, 46.6% of the population, led by 88,260 Portuguese and 49,255 French citizens. Another 228,800 people worked in the country in 2025 and lived abroad: 125,800 in France, 51,900 in Germany and 51,100 in Belgium. Their home lines are on networks in those countries, so seeing a Luxembourg shop as they do takes a French, German or Belgian IP.

Standard VAT differs on each side of the border: 17% in Luxembourg, 19% in Germany, 20% in France and 21% in Belgium (European Commission table, checked 13 July 2026). When you compare amazon.de or e.leclerc with a Luxembourg shop, keep the seller’s country beside each price.

The 2018 data act, Article 509-1 and gambling rules in Luxembourg

The GDPR applies together with the Act of 1 August 2018 (Mémorial A N° 686), which sets up the National Data Protection Commission (CNPD) as supervisor and replaced the amended Act of 2 August 2002. A seller’s name and number in a public ad count as personal data, so store the price and date without them.

As printed by the Grand Ducal Police on a page last updated on 14 June 2021, Article 509-1 of the Criminal Code punishes fraudulently accessing or remaining in a data system with two months to two years in prison, a fine of €500 to €25,000, or both. The texts we read set no registration, licence or ban for proxy or VPN users. The amended Act of 20 April 1977 prohibits games of chance outside listed exceptions, and gambling sites are not a supported use.

Not legal advice. The consolidated Code would not open on 3 November 2026, so check the current Article 509-1 before relying on these penalties. Rulings on scraping from 2022 to 2026 are collected in our court-case guide.

Luxembourg proxy questions

Your traffic leaves through a line in Luxembourg, on a network such as POST or Tango, so sites treat you as a visitor there. Use one to read atHome and Luxauto listings, see what amazon.de shows a buyer in the country, or follow google.lu results in French or German.

6K+ residential IPs in the pool, October 2026; the figure moves as homes go on and offline. Mobile has no count of its own. Those exits run on POST, Tango and Orange where the pool has them, and the order page shows availability.

Logins pick the country, -cc-lu. The dashboard generator shows any cantons and towns on offer, where available. Lookups give the canton as the region, so read the city field as well, and open the exit in our IP checker before you depend on a town.

Home exits come from households on POST, Tango, Eltrona, Luxembourg Online and Visual Online, which APNIC credits with 97.37% of users. Mobile exits come from phones on POST, Tango and Orange. The login cannot choose among them, because network keys are limited to the US, the UK and Germany.

Orange lines in Luxembourg can appear under AS47377, registered to Orange Belgium SA. A lookup can print that name beside city Luxembourg, country LU and a hostname ending in orange.lu. MaxMind places most of the ASN in Belgium and France, so go by the country field and drop anything other than LU.

Luxembourg has residential and mobile to choose from; static ISP and datacenter IPs are sold in the countries the order page lists. Take rotating residential exits for listings, shop prices and search results. Phones produced 45.63% of page views in October 2026, so mobile, at $0.50 more per GB, is there for app checks and phone layouts.

Residential is $3.49 per GB on the smallest order and $1.69 at 1,000 GB or more. Mobile runs from $3.99 to $2.19. The tier rate covers the whole purchase, and traffic never expires. The pricing page has every step.

Article 509-1 of the Criminal Code on fraudulent access to a data system applies to everyone, as does the GDPR with the Act of 1 August 2018 for any personal data you collect. The Luxembourg texts we read do not register, license or ban proxies and VPNs, though the electronic communications act was not among them. Not legal advice.

The person running a free proxy is usually unknown and can read or keep what you send, logins included. Look the address up first: POST, Tango or Eltrona points to a Luxembourg line, while FranTech, G-Core Labs or HostRoyale, hosting names also in APNIC’s Luxembourg table, point to a rented server.

Point your browser extension, app or HTTP client at gate.aeonproxy.com, port 7000, with the username ap_a1b2c3-cc-lu and your password. Append -sid-lux01-time-7200 to keep one exit for two hours. SOCKS5 is covered in the docs, and the pricing page has the current free trial terms.

It depends on the site. RTL separates its editions by address, while Luxauto, atHome and Jobs.lu use menus. Send the Accept-Language header you want, as the Python tab does, and record the language that comes back.
