Why Jordan

OpenSooq and dinar shelf prices, seen mostly on phones

Classifieds

OpenSooq, 13th in Jordan

By estimated search traffic, Ahrefs puts opensooq.com 13th in Jordan for October 2026 and first in its shopping category. Its car section listed 18,249 cars on 31 October 2026, with prices in JOD.

Shops

Two shops, two ways to write a dinar

SmartBuy uses three decimals and a decimal point: on 31 October 2026 an iPhone 17 Pro Max cost 1,099.000 JOD and a freezer was cut from 699.000 to 599.000 JOD. Leaders Center’s Arabic pages put two decimals after a comma, with a Samsung 65-inch TV bundle at 443,00 dinars, down from 508,00.

Search

Google almost everywhere, Bing on some desktops

Google answered 97.66% of Jordanian searches in September 2026, 99.11% on phones (StatCounter); Bing took 4.91% on desktops. SERP proxies covers both engines.

Phones

Four page views in five come from phones

Phones produced 80.21% of Jordanian page views in September 2026, and Android ran 77.37% of mobile traffic, so check mobile layouts on Android first.

Coverage

Amman, Irbid, Zarqa and the largest Jordanian municipalities

Where available, exits also come from At Turrah, Sakib, At Tafilah and Ma’an. Geolocation databases disagree most at city level, so open an exit in our IP checker before a task depends on its town.

Networks

Zain, Umniah and Orange, then Damamax and the smaller ISPs

In APNIC Labs’ estimate, 38.14% of Jordanian internet users are on Zain’s network and 27.23% on Umniah’s. Orange runs two networks, with 26.77% and 16.67%. Damamax, the XOLJO network, VTEL and Jordan Cable TV & Internet follow, none of them above 3%.

For developers

Label a Jordanian exit by operator, Orange included

The login holds -cc-jo and a 30-minute session, and any exit whose country is not JO is skipped. Lookups name Orange by its two registered holders, so the script maps its two ASNs, and Zain’s and Umniah’s, to brands.

import requests, uuid
GATE = "gate.aeonproxy.com:7000"
# Country key only. Orange answers under two registry names:
# AS8376 "Jordan Data Communications Company LLC" and AS8697 "Jordan Telecommunications PSC".
BRAND = {"AS48832": "Zain", "AS9038": "Umniah", "AS8376": "Orange", "AS8697": "Orange",
         "AS47887": "Damamax", "AS50670": "VTEL", "AS44702": "JCS"}

def jordan_exit(brand=None, tries=10):

        sid = uuid.uuid4().hex[:8]

        try:
            geo = requests.get("https://ipinfo.io/json", proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy}, timeout=15).json()
        except requests.RequestException:

        if geo.get("country") != "JO":
            continue # keep Jordanian exits only
        name = BRAND.get(geo.get("org", "").split(" ")[0], geo.get("org"))
        if brand is None or name == brand:
            return proxy, geo, name # the same address for 30 minutes
    return None, None, None

proxy, geo, name = jordan_exit("Orange")
if proxy:
    print(geo["ip"], geo.get("city"), geo.get("region"), name)   # region: the governorate

Pass "Zain" or "Umniah" instead, or None for any Jordanian exit. -time- takes 60 to 21600 seconds; with no -sid-, every request gets a new exit. Logins can name a network only in the US, the UK and Germany, hence the ASN map.

A Jordanian quirk

Data protection and the 2023 cybercrime law in Jordan

The Personal Data Protection Law No. 24 of 2023 has applied since 17 March 2024, also to data collected earlier, under the Personal Data Protection Directorate of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. Names, home addresses and phone numbers are personal data, and controllers need prior consent to process them; leave sellers’ details out of what you take from OpenSooq or Akhtaboot.

The Cybercrime Law No. 17 of 2023 punishes access to a website or information system without authorisation (article 3). Article 12, in the unofficial English translation by the Jordan Open Source Association (JOSA, August 2023), punishes anyone who replaces the IP address with a fictitious address or one belonging to a third party, or does so by any other means, “with the intention of committing a crime or preventing its discovery”: at least six months in prison or a fine of 2,500 to 25,000 dinars. In a statement of 13 August 2024, Amnesty International reads the article as possibly covering the use of VPNs, proxies and Tor. AeonProxy does not support use for that purpose. Article 35 makes the IP address a means of proof before the courts. Under article 32, when an order to remove content is refused or goes unanswered, or in urgent cases, a prosecutor or court can have a website or platform blocked from the national network; reaching blocked sites through AeonProxy is not supported. None of the texts we read requires a licence or registration for VPN or proxy use as such.

Jordan proxy questions

An exit address on a Jordanian network such as Zain, Orange or Umniah, so sites answer as they would for someone in Amman or Irbid. Use one for OpenSooq listings and SmartBuy prices in dinars, google.jo rankings, or a look at your own site from inside Jordan.

10K+ residential IPs in the pool, October 2026, a number that shifts as Jordanian homes connect and disconnect. No separate mobile count exists; mobile exits run on Zain, Orange and Umniah where the pool has them, with current stock on the order page.

A Jordanian login sets the country, -cc-jo, and nothing finer; the dashboard generator shows which governorates and cities are offered, where available. Filtering after you connect works too: keep the exits whose lookup region is the one you need. Check each town in our IP checker, as lookups often disagree at city level.

From homes and phones on the networks most Jordanians use: Zain and Umniah, with 38.14% and 27.23% of users in APNIC’s estimate, Orange with 26.77% and 16.67% on two networks, and smaller ISPs such as Damamax and VTEL. Logins cannot pick one of them (network keys are a US, UK and German option); the ASN in each lookup tells them apart.

Lookups print the holder registered for the network. Orange’s larger network, AS8376, belongs to Jordan Data Communications Company LLC, which the RIPE Database marks as Jordan Telecom Group (Orange); the smaller one, AS8697, is Jordan Telecommunications PSC. Umniah’s AS9038 is registered as Al Bahrainia al Urdunia Liltaknia Wa Alitisalat, which the RIPE Database describes as Batelco Jordan.

Residential exits on rotation cover listings, shop prices and search results. Mobile traffic is $0.50 dearer per GB and fits app and mobile-page tests, with Android at 77.37% of Jordanian mobile traffic in September 2026. For accounts you own, kept within each platform’s rules, rent a static ISP address; Jordanian stock is on the order page.

No Jordanian text we read requires a licence or registration for proxy use as such. Article 12 of the Cybercrime Law No. 17 of 2023, in JOSA’s unofficial English translation, punishes replacing the IP address with a fictitious or third-party address, or doing so by any other means, with the intention of committing a crime or preventing its discovery: at least six months in prison or a fine of 2,500 to 25,000 dinars. AeonProxy does not support that use. Personal data falls under Law No. 24 of 2023. Not legal advice.

Whoever runs a free proxy can log or alter everything that passes through it, logins included, and you cannot vet that person. Check its ASN before anything else: Jordanian home and phone lines sit on AS48832, AS9038, AS8376, AS8697 and similar networks, while a hosting firm’s name points to a rented server.

Enter gate.aeonproxy.com, port 7000, as the HTTP proxy in a browser extension, app or HTTP client, with the user name ap_a1b2c3-cc-jo and your password. Append -sid-amm01-time-1800 to hold one exit for 30 minutes. SOCKS5 is in the docs; the pricing page has the free trial’s current terms.

SmartBuy writes dinar amounts to three places (1,099.000 JOD on 31 October 2026), and the Central Bank quotes the US dollar at 708 to 710 fils. Leaders Center shows two decimals after a comma instead. Read each shop’s decimal mark on its own and keep JOD beside every figure.
