Use cases
Comparison sites, classifieds and property portals
Prisjakt and PriceRunner lead Similarweb’s September 2026 ranking of Swedish price-comparison sites, and Prisjakt is also fifth among all Swedish shopping sites. The four ahead of it are the classifieds site Blocket, amazon.se, the auction site Tradera and Clas Ohlson.
A seller can follow where its products appear on Prisjakt and PriceRunner and at what price. Blocket and Tradera show what used goods fetch, and Hemnet and Booli what homes list for. The prices are in kronor, and a Swedish home line gets the pages Swedish visitors get.
Search is mostly Google, 85.86% in September 2026, with Bing at 8.44% and DuckDuckGo at 2.11% (StatCounter). Phones produced 56.96% of Swedish page views, and iOS ran 56.12% of mobile traffic against 43.88% for Android, so test Swedish mobile pages on an iPhone and in Safari first.

County keys carry the word county: -st-stockholmcounty, -st-vastragotalandcounty, -st-skanecounty, -st-uppsalacounty, -st-ostergotlandcounty. Lookups print the county without it, as Stockholm, Västra Götaland or Skåne.

Population: SCB, municipalities, August 2026; Stockholm, Västra Götaland and Skåne counties hold 53.8% of Sweden’s 10,621,103 people. In our 27 October 2026 sample, 26 of the 40 exits were in Stockholm county; ipinfo.io named 15 exits Stockholm and 9 Kista, a Stockholm district with many data centres, then Malmö 2 and one each in Gothenburg, Jönköping, Sundsvall and other towns. Five of the six county misses came back in the Stockholm area (Kista, Ekerö, Täby), and six of the eight city misses did too. Four of the city misses were Gothenburg requests.

In APNIC’s estimate about three in four Swedish internet users are on Telia, Tele2 or Telenor. Bredband2, fifth in the table, has belonged to Telia since 2026.

Fixed broadband
Who sells Swedish home internet
Shares of Sweden’s 4.3 million fixed broadband subscriptions at the end of 2025, from PTS, the telecoms regulator. Fibre carries 3.62 million of them, cable 651,000 and DSL about 6,000.
PTS, Svensk telekommarknad 2025 (25 May 2026). Telia offered for Bredband2 in July 2025, the Competition Authority found no grounds to stop it, and shareholders accepted in 2026; Telia then holds 48.6% of fibre subscriptions. 1.38 million subscriptions come through housing associations and landlords. In mobile, Telia had 30.3% of 15.1 million subscriptions, Tele2 25.8%, Telenor 20.5% and Tre 19.1%; 2G and 3G shutdowns began in 2025.

A Swedish network name does not prove a Swedish address
- Tele2 Sverige’s network, AS1257, also carries Tele2’s ranges in the Baltics. In public ipinfo.io lookups of eight of its addresses on 27 October 2026, made outside our gateway, five were placed in Tallinn, Vilnius or Riga.
- Tre’s AS44034, registered to Hi3G Access AB, holds Danish mobile ranges too, and Bahnhof’s AS8473 has Finnish ones. A Swedish operator name in a lookup does not prove a Swedish location.
- The country field therefore comes first: the Python check above accepts an exit only when the country is SE, and then compares county and city.
- Stockholm-area placement is common. Nine of our 40 sample exits came back as Kista, and 11 of the 14 targeting misses landed around Stockholm, so confirm the city before you rely on it.
- IPv6 is in the minority. APNIC measured 35.33% of Swedish users as IPv6-capable, below the world figure of 43.82%; Tre reached 87.2%, Bredband2 10.3% and Bahnhof 17.5%.
- Check each new session in our IP checker, which shows the network, type and location of the address you are on.
Data protection and people-search sites in Sweden
Sweden applies the GDPR through the Data Protection Act, lag (2018:218) with supplementary provisions to the EU regulation, and IMY (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten) supervises it. People lookups are popular in Sweden: hitta.se, which searches by name, street and phone number, was the 32nd most visited site in September 2026. Some search services publish names, addresses and ages under a publishing certificate, which gives them constitutional protection, and IMY had held that it could not act against them. In a legal position of 14 May 2024 it decided that EU law comes first and that it can open supervision after complaints.
Information about people is personal data under the GDPR wherever you read it, so leave it out and collect prices, listings, stock and rankings. We found no Swedish rule aimed at proxies or VPNs as such.

The gateway’s region list names Swedish counties with the word county, and it refused -st-stockholm with 407 in our check. As a city key, stockholm works. Lookups drop the word again and print “Stockholm” for the county.
Home lines on the networks Swedes use. Of the 40 residential exits in our 27 October 2026 sample, Tele2 had 10, Telia 8, Telenor 6 across two ASNs, Bredband2 5 and Bahnhof 2; the rest were spread over the university network SUNET and several smaller networks.
No. Tele2 Sverige’s AS1257 also carries Tele2’s Baltic ranges: in public ipinfo.io lookups of eight of its addresses, five were placed in Tallinn, Vilnius or Riga. Tre’s and Bahnhof’s networks hold Danish and Finnish ranges as well. Go by the country field, never the network name; the Python example keeps a session only when the lookup says SE.
Kista is a Stockholm district with many data centres. Nine of our 40 sample exits came back as Kista, and Kista also turned up among the misses of Gothenburg and Malmö city requests and of Uppsala county requests. Treat Kista as Stockholm, and check the city whenever you asked for somewhere else.

No Swedish rule we found targets proxies or VPNs. What counts is the data: the GDPR and the Data Protection Act govern any personal data you collect, people-search sites included, and site terms still bind you. Not legal advice.
