Trade Me tops Similarweb’s September 2026 ranking of New Zealand e-commerce sites, ahead of Kmart, Woolworths, Temu and The Warehouse. New World and Pak’nSave led the grocery list, realestate.co.nz and OneRoof led property, and Seek led job search. No Amazon storefront for New Zealand shows up in those lists; amazon.com.au comes fifth among marketplaces.
A check that should match what a shopper in Hamilton or Dunedin sees has to start on a New Zealand household line; a server in Europe gets a foreign visitor’s view.
Bing took 7.71% of New Zealand searches in September 2026 and Google 89.02%, and desktops still produced 54.9% of page views against 42.16% from phones (StatCounter). Rank reports should cover both engines and both screen sizes; SERP proxies has the setup.
In a sample of 40 exits through our gateway on 27 October 2026, placed by ipinfo.io, every exit was in New Zealand, in 9 cities and 7 regions. Auckland, home to about a third of the population, had 27 of them.

Population: Stats NZ estimated resident population at 30 June 2025; Auckland has one council, so its figure is the region’s. Region keys: -st-auckland, -st-canterbury, -st-wellingtonregion, -st-waikatoregion, -st-bayofplenty, -st-otago. In the targeted test, every Auckland and Canterbury region request hit, while three Wellington Region and three Waikato Region requests came out in Auckland and one Waikato request in Hastings. Christchurch city requests all hit; three Hamilton requests, one for Tauranga and one for Wellington landed in Auckland, and another Tauranga request in Opotiki. A separate check the same day placed all 8 Auckland city requests in Auckland. Confirm the city before you rely on it.
APNIC Labs’ user shares for New Zealand overlap and add up to more than 100%, so read each one on its own. Spark, the largest, is almost all IPv4, and Starlink ranks sixth.

User shares and IPv6 rates: APNIC Labs, 25–26 October 2026. Sample counts come from 40 residential and 11 mobile test exits on 27 October 2026, located by ipinfo.io; they describe our test, not the pool, and the remaining residential exit was on Rexnetworks (AS131296). By the Commerce Commission’s count Spark held 38% of mobile subscribers in June 2025, One NZ 37% and 2degrees 22%; in broadband Spark had 32%, with 2degrees and One NZ level in second place.

https://ipinfo.io/jsonShare of each region’s broadband connections on low earth orbit satellite, Commerce Commission, June 2025. New Zealand has more satellite broadband per person than any other OECD country, 1.3 connections per 100 people.
By June 2025 Starlink was the largest rural broadband retailer, with 27% of rural connections. APNIC counts it as New Zealand’s sixth-largest network, at 4.82% of users. None of the 40 exits in our sample was on Starlink’s AS14593.
Round trips are long from here: the five exits in the panel above measured 286 to 335 ms between the exit and Frankfurt, where our gateway runs, on 27 October 2026. That is about a third of a second for each round trip, so run requests in parallel.
New Zealand keeps Pacific/Auckland time: UTC+13 from 27 September 2026 to 4 April 2027 and UTC+12 for the rest of the year, with the Chatham Islands 45 minutes ahead. In late October 2026 a job started at 9:00 in Frankfurt runs at 21:00 in Auckland.
The IP version varies by network as well. Only 0.56% of Spark users could use IPv6 in October 2026, against 79.5% on Starlink, 77.6% on Sky and 67.6% on Mercury, with a national figure of 32.75%. Spark users reach sites almost entirely over IPv4, while about two in five 2degrees and One NZ users can use IPv6.
The Privacy Act 2020, in force since 1 December 2020, governs personal information, and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner enforces it. Since 1 May 2026 a new principle, IPP 3A, has required an agency that collects personal information from someone other than the person concerned to take reasonable steps to tell that person, unless an exception applies; publicly available information is one of the exceptions.
The Biometric Processing Privacy Code 2025 has applied to new biometric processing since 3 November 2025 and to existing processing since 3 August 2026, which matters if a project touches faces taken from websites. Prices, stock, listings and rankings are not personal information; leave names, photos and contact details out.

It sends your requests out through a New Zealand IP address, so sites respond as they would to a visitor there. Use one when the response changes with location: Trade Me listings, Woolworths specials, New Zealand Google and Bing results, or your own site as Kiwi customers load it.
62K+ residential IPs in the pool, October 2026; the figure moves as household connections come online and drop off. We publish no mobile count for New Zealand. The 11 mobile exits in our 27 October 2026 sample came from One NZ, Spark and 2degrees.
Yes, where available. Regions: -st-auckland, -st-canterbury, -st-wellingtonregion, -st-waikatoregion, -st-bayofplenty, -st-otago. Cities: Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Tauranga and Dunedin, as -city-christchurch and so on. On 27 October 2026 ipinfo.io placed 17 of 24 region requests and 18 of 24 city requests where asked, and most misses came out in Auckland.
Usually not. One council covers the whole Auckland region, about 1,816,000 people, so -st-auckland and -city-auckland point at the same area. In our test every Auckland region request was placed in Auckland, and a separate check the same day put all 8 Auckland city requests there too.
Mostly home and mobile lines on 2degrees, One NZ and Spark. Of the 40 sample exits, 2degrees had 15, One NZ 10, Spark 8 and Devoli 5, with Sky Broadband and Rexnetworks one each. Network keys are offered only for the US, UK and Germany, so check the ASN in each lookup.
Rotating residential for listings and prices across many pages. Mobile, $0.50 more per GB at each tier, for app tests on One NZ, Spark or 2degrees. A static ISP IP when your own accounts should keep one New Zealand address, within platform rules; the order page shows whether it is available.
The Privacy Act 2020 looks at the personal information you collect and how you use it. Since May 2026 collecting it indirectly usually has to be notified, with an exception for publicly available information. Logged-out prices, listings and rankings hold no personal information, and each site’s terms still apply. Not legal advice.
A free proxy belongs to someone you cannot check, and anything sent through it can be read or changed. Hosting networks are rare among New Zealand users, Amazon at 0.25% in APNIC’s estimate, so an exit on a cloud ASN is a server, whatever its location says. Our IP checker shows the network behind any address.
Use host gate.aeonproxy.com, port 7000 and your login with -cc-nz added (ap_a1b2c3-cc-nz) in a browser extension, a scraper or the code above. You can start with a free trial; the pricing page lists its current terms. The docs cover SOCKS5 and sticky sessions.
Not on request. New Zealand has no network keys, and none of our 40 sample exits was on Starlink, although it carried 27% of rural broadband connections in June 2025.
